so I haven't bought makeup for a while, but ashbet, fatwetdog and mmymoon had been talking about it lately...

... I went to the mall to check out NARS, Sephora's and MAC's new winter/fall stuff.
I'd been really preferring lately on using loose mineral pigments for eyeshadow, for the intensity,... but still NARS' Mekong eyeshadow really caught my eye. It's really a powerful and dark "gold-infused expresso", but still sparkly. (much more powerful than it appears on the website) I'll look forward to doing a smokey eye with it. I also liked the Fast Ride Lipstick. It's really creamy and has a romantic dark mulberry look. You'd THINK I would LOVE the Angelika light pink sparkly blush... but the pink is just too baby-pink for my skintone apparently.

Also really liked Smashbox's LIMITLESS LONG WEARING LIP GLOSS in "Non-stop", a great candy pink glassy gloss, not too sticky. I've had kindof a crush-on for pink glassy lip gloss ever since the first time I went to Tokyo. Glad you can get that kind of style here now, too (actually for a while, you've been able to, happily.)

Loved the pink-wigged Marie Antoinette-styled packaging on Too Faced' Glamour Revolution gift set... but somehow convinced myself I didn't need it. close-up of the front of the package. The funny (and not great) thing is that that bright pink shadow you see on the model in the packaging is not included in the gift pack! Still, very adorable packaging.

I wanted to check out MAC's Style Black (AKA, the goth line), but they didn't have any of the black lipsticks in the store! LAME! I don't particularly care for their mineralize metallics, either... I don't like the large metallic flakes.

Forever21 has some really cute beret's right now. I got a black one with light gold metallic polka dots on it! Lots of stores, including F21, right now have a lot of fabulous military-jacket and biker-jacket inspired bits. I'm always weak for that.

on the LOLITA front, ... Have you guys noticed? BTSSB is doing LL sizes now.
Not just with the GloomyBear stuff, either. this unreleased pocket JSK in their fall/winter print catalog comes in LL. Be interesting to see what the LL measurements for this JSK will be as their L measurements vary greatly. I love this dress though... they had it a while back, so it's nice to see it rereleased in more sizes. (it comes in pink, brown, navy and black apparently, thanks to addictive_sugar ) I already have some black and pink... so I might go for navy or brown. Brown lately is pretty charming, kindof a fairy tale forest feel if coordinated well. .... but black X black is always good.

Twinkle Snow Crystal comes in slightly larger size, too (in fact, it's not marked as "L" but it's larger than the "L" sized Friend Usakumya. (I don't prefer that kind of gathered bodice though... it emphasizes the boobs too much on me.)

From Angelic Pretty English Store, I picked up the "Satin ribbon knit bolero" and "Milky of the fawn fake far parka" sweatshirt hoodie, both in white. Hopefully they'll fit. I've been wanting this type of thing for a while. I've tried other options and have SOME stuff from Anthro that works... but we'll see. I really love the heart pattern on the knit bolero,... and the faux pink fur and the pink deer head embroidery is really adorable.

and as always, I love Emily Temple Cute's fashion blog. So buying a knitted/crocheted flower scarf like this. (though I do already have SOME stuff like that... )

Futurama "Beast with a Billion Backs" has been nominated for an Annie Award! Cross your fingers! (I worked on it)

I'm having such a great week. My work is pretty fun and in general I'm in a disturbingly good mood. (which is great cause I was kinda emo last week.) We filmed a "behind the scenes" thing in the studio yesterday and I think I managed not to make a fool of myself. Helped probably that I was hopped-up on sweet tea. ha.
Also, the weather is friggin gorgeous right now. I'm trying to take advantage of it, like last night Mitch and I went and had dinner on the patio. It's like 79 in the evenings, really pleasing.

This weekend Derek is going to teach me, Mitch and Crisso how to hustle (or something!) We'll see how it goes. Both Mitch and I are notoriously wrong-footed. :) I wanna learn how to dip Crisso. XD

I finally broke down after much hemming and hawing and bought some Lime Crime Magic Dust. SO PRETTY.

Also, after discovering them in London, I picked up a couple things from Anna Lou. I have a weakness for plastic jewelry. I've been gravitating a lot more towards light blue lately, too. Blue actually was my first love (sorry pink!)

I'm so in love with this song, "don't let me fall" by Lenka. The sweet, slightly quirky sound of it feels like my life soundtrack right now. (haha. that and some Foreigner... while drinking Almond Oolong tea...)
"Underneath the moon,
Underneath the stars
Here's a little heart for you
Up above the world,
Up above it all
Here's a hand to hold on to

But if I should break,
If I should fall away
What am I to do?
I need someone to take,
A little of the weight
Or I'll fall through
"

Aimee: Honey. look at this sparklyridiculous Twilight necklace I got for Crisso.
Mitch: *barely paying attention* huh. that's that vampire thing right?
A: yes.
M: I gotta say in all honesty that he has very handsome eyes.
A: XD!!!!

Other HAWT things:
A.J.'s dance performance photos and Tristen Citrine lurking in a doorway as LUST, and animeangel's photos of her (1 and 2)... and NPH as SANTA. (thanks Michelle!)

XD~

After work I ran by MAC. I ended up getting:
~ a black(Carbon, since so many really like MAC's black...),
~ dark blue(deep truth. which is way brighter in person, as you can see above in my box)
~ and steamy/teal (which is actually much more vibrant in person... also above. It's actually a pretty intense creamy slightly metallic teal.)
I tried a lot of colors... but I didn't really like the new metallics (METAL URGE) MAC had. And other than the colors I already have, none of the colors were as vibrant as what LIMECRIME has. I love having them all in a box together, but I think I'm going to suck it up and obsess over LIMECRIME's colors and buy some. I'm leaning towards Medusa, Duchess, Primadona, Pompadour, Circus Girl, Twilight, and/or....?
On the cheap, I tried some HIP L'oreal sets. Overall, I think I like a bright yellow as a highlight color and I love teal and dark blue (hence my new MAC purchases) but plummy colors seem to make my eyes just look bruised (unless I shade them with darker blues.)
anyway, here's me with steamy shaded a bit with deep truth.

completely unrelated clouds. I'm so busy. OMG! but I will triumph!

so I've been getting braver with my eyeshadow colors when I go out. I like MAC and their excessively lovely to use their magnetic palettes for shadow. I have a travel one and a larger one for conventions... it's really easy to snap them in and out based on what I need.
HOWEVER... I want some mad colors. Am I crazy... but... I mean look at this. This is FABULOUS! I'd really like to try out some of LimeCrime eyeshadow but they won't go in my palette. Maybe during a lunch break next week I'll go play around with some bright colors at MAC... but they don't have some of the intense colors of LIMECRIME. (also Limecrime has colors with names like "POMPADOUR"!) HMM. I don't nessesarily want metallic, and I don't really want full matte either,... something with a little umph to it though would be fun.

What colors do you think I should try? :)
I think I'd like to get an electric teal/green (with a darker blue for mixing), a bright reddish pink, a bright plummy purple and a bright dark blue/purple... and maybe something for highlights like a bright limey yellow.
My current favorite colors I already have are sketch and freshwater. (but not used together)

tshirt: Delias or Alloy, vest: Topshop, necklace and bracelet: F21
Dress is on sale from JCREW. I'll probably wear it with shirts under or over it. It seems really basic, but on closer inspection it's really well made and has some lovely details. I think it'll be fun to play with.

Also still really really want a great military coat. I pathetically hope to find one on Portabello Road or something come December. But I'm sure I won't find one. :}
