frou frou makeup time

so I've been getting braver with my eyeshadow colors when I go out. I like MAC and their excessively lovely to use their magnetic palettes for shadow. I have a travel one and a larger one for conventions... it's really easy to snap them in and out based on what I need.
HOWEVER... I want some mad colors. Am I crazy... but... I mean look at this. This is FABULOUS! I'd really like to try out some of LimeCrime eyeshadow but they won't go in my palette. Maybe during a lunch break next week I'll go play around with some bright colors at MAC... but they don't have some of the intense colors of LIMECRIME. (also Limecrime has colors with names like "POMPADOUR"!) HMM. I don't nessesarily want metallic, and I don't really want full matte either,... something with a little umph to it though would be fun.
What colors do you think I should try? :)
I think I'd like to get an electric teal/green (with a darker blue for mixing), a bright reddish pink, a bright plummy purple and a bright dark blue/purple... and maybe something for highlights like a bright limey yellow.
My current favorite colors I already have are sketch and freshwater. (but not used together)

tshirt: Delias or Alloy, vest: Topshop, necklace and bracelet: F21
Dress is on sale from JCREW. I'll probably wear it with shirts under or over it. It seems really basic, but on closer inspection it's really well made and has some lovely details. I think it'll be fun to play with.
Also still really really want a great military coat. I pathetically hope to find one on Portabello Road or something come December. But I'm sure I won't find one. :}

I think it might work for some things. I don't want it to be too metallic though.

Date: 2008-12-06 10:08 pm (UTC)And I am SHRIEKING in delight over LimeCrime -- I've never heard of them before, and that's my absolute favorite kind of shadow (loose metallic dust), and those colors are to DIE for!!!!

Date: 2008-12-06 10:21 pm (UTC)I love the matte blue and matte lavender offerings (Mystique Blue and Fortune Teller, respectively) and think a matte, canary yellow shade would be a great addition.
'Snow Queen' seems very '90s' and fun.

Date: 2008-12-07 02:05 am (UTC)Do you know where the international food court is down in the Fashion District? If you do, there was a clothing store on your left as you go in through the front and they had an AWESOME military style jean jacket. It was $60. I got a bomber jacket for this winter, else I'd have snatched it. XD

Date: 2008-12-07 08:10 am (UTC)u can usually find it for about 54-60bucks. that's what i mainly use, i also recommend using Makeup Forever, from what i remember they have the same manufacturing company as MAC
and i also use a lot of MILANI which u can find at like CVS or target. for a cheap brand their makeup is really high-pigment. also using a little water on brushes really makes it brighter.
Loreal HIP is really intense too. i think i only buy MAC when nobody else has the type or colour i need, but other than that i usually find something equivalent for much cheaper.

Date: 2008-12-07 05:15 pm (UTC)So why don't you like mac? :) (is it just the price?)
Thanks for the recommendations! :) where can I get the Ben Nye pallet? it sounds like fun! :)

Date: 2008-12-07 07:38 pm (UTC)thats why i i've only ever bought like 3 or 4 mac shadows. mainly like their black, since it's the darkest i've been able to find.
you should be able to blend wet and dry, it's hard but practice makes perfect.
you can buy ben nye online or at their pasadena store.

it's 54.00 for the 12colour palette, which i have. and there's other colours that have like pearl sheen or sparkle that come individually for like 9bucks (i think they're bigger in size too)
also you can try kryolan eyeshadow, which tends to be really bright but mostly require wet use i think. u can find those from shrinkle i think.

Date: 2008-12-07 09:00 pm (UTC)Ahem, yes. By and large I cant see the point in spending a lot on eyeshadows. I find that with a good primer even cheap crap looks very rich. Except black. I simply cannot find a good carbon black. Granted Ive never tried the MAC one, perhaps I should.

Date: 2008-12-09 10:13 pm (UTC)btw have you ever checked out the YouTube user Panacea81's (http://www.youtube.com/panacea81) videos? She taught me how to break outta my "one-style-only" of eyeshadow...she uses Barry M. and MAC makeup and does her own looks or copies Celebrity looks to teach others....she's AMAZING (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_Luke). XD!!
Also she uses palettes like what This Seller (http://myworld.ebay.com/medexrom/) sells...you have no idea just how big they are till she herself pulls one out in her vids. I'm so getting one....or a few...it's X-Mas, right? XD!! hahaha!
kk I leave now...lol!

He is amazing. He does some really wild stuff, from out on town to costume. He used to work for Mac, but now he doesn't. He's really good about listing what he used in the tutorial. =)
