I really needed this today! I'm very grateful I didn't have to go to work today. (we worked ultra hard the past few weeks.)

This is at Huntington Gardens. :) (it was super windy today! This is how windy it was:

seriously. eventually they kicked us out of the gardens because they were afraid branches were going to hit us. Case in point:

The obidome is a lucky clover. I wore my purple and blue striped geta. The obi is this yellow hime one. :) this is my second try with Nagoya obi. I really adore this kimono, it may be my new favorite.
stripes + representational motif + bright colors = LOVE

then I had cake:

and then I went running through this field (yes, in kimono. no, I did not fall on my face.)

and there was hummingbirds.
and the sky looked like this:

then the docents said I had to leave for fear of scary falling branches.

then I went into LA to see Mitch for a bit and got some mochi from Fugetsu-Do. The store owner was there and asked if I was going to tea-ceremony. Nope. I'm just a big dork. :)

oh wow that looks so beautiful on you! What a lovely design and that obi and bow are so cute. Please teach me the ways of wearing and finding great kimono like that!!!! I just love how into kimono you are, it's something I've always loved but never known how to check out that much...always so nervous about picking my first one or even finding the right fabric to make my own!

well, considering that you are shorter than me, it'd be way easier for you to find kimono. :) You'd have to ask me specific questions though. But I'd be happy to try and help!this forum is very useful though:

awesome thanks! I remember coming across them once I think when looking up some hair accessories.

Q - is there a particular seller or place online/eBay you go to when looking for kimono?

I go with ichiroya.com, and most of the prolific ebay sellers are good (like antiques japan, etc... and ryujapan, etc...)

ps, if you want to email me: aimeeATaimeemajorDOTcom

the most important measurement is your height basically, (and your bust or hips, to make sure it's wide enougH).. and then from there there are rules about colors for your age... and what to wear in what season, etc. :)

I'm super excited about kimono, so if you'd really like to know I'm perfectly willing to chat your ear off.
