I really needed this today! I'm very grateful I didn't have to go to work today. (we worked ultra hard the past few weeks.)

This is at Huntington Gardens. :) (it was super windy today! This is how windy it was:

seriously. eventually they kicked us out of the gardens because they were afraid branches were going to hit us. Case in point:

The obidome is a lucky clover. I wore my purple and blue striped geta. The obi is this yellow hime one. :) this is my second try with Nagoya obi. I really adore this kimono, it may be my new favorite.
stripes + representational motif + bright colors = LOVE

then I had cake:

and then I went running through this field (yes, in kimono. no, I did not fall on my face.)

and there was hummingbirds.
and the sky looked like this:

then the docents said I had to leave for fear of scary falling branches.

then I went into LA to see Mitch for a bit and got some mochi from Fugetsu-Do. The store owner was there and asked if I was going to tea-ceremony. Nope. I'm just a big dork. :)

kyyyaaaaa *-* they have been well taken care of, no cuts or markings or anything. And that last one is female and oh so preggers :x

Koi are my nerdy Japanese thing I collect. Well had to stop collecting as my 4 I have are too big for their current home of a 100 gallon aquerium in my room. Mine are so small compaired to them though ;o; Keita's my biggest at 13 inches, Ryohei is a close second at 12, (both of my boys) and Ryuichi is up to 8 inches and my new one (aka cutie since her marking makes her face look like this c: ) Momoko is a tiny 4 inches plus 3 inches of fins/tail (my girls). But I got my first three koi last year and Momoko in febuary. They were all that small when I bought them so I do find 9 inchs in less then a year for Keita to be quite a feat.

... I treat them better then most partents treat their children >> *rubs scars from falling into the aquerium to save them from having glass fall on them an cut them since it's easier to take care of me over my fish*

God you should see Momoko swim, she totally knows she is the prettiest thing ever and had Keita and Ryohei fighting over her with in minutes of her being in my tank.

it's about $800 D: but dimention wise, 2 feet x 1.5 feet x 4 feet. On the stand I got with my aquerium the top sits at about my shoulders.

Well they are, my aquerium it's self is very plain. Koi eat everything (I had 4 snails keeping it algea free till Keita ate them --; ) so I have minimal things in there because they up root everything. They have a pirate ship that my smaller pleco hides in that they capsize al the time becuase they hate the bubbler under it. But I need it because if my little pleco has no pretection then Keita will eat it like he did my snails ant other small pleco +_+

oh wow that looks so beautiful on you! What a lovely design and that obi and bow are so cute. Please teach me the ways of wearing and finding great kimono like that!!!! I just love how into kimono you are, it's something I've always loved but never known how to check out that much...always so nervous about picking my first one or even finding the right fabric to make my own!

well, considering that you are shorter than me, it'd be way easier for you to find kimono. :) You'd have to ask me specific questions though. But I'd be happy to try and help!this forum is very useful though:

awesome thanks! I remember coming across them once I think when looking up some hair accessories.

Q - is there a particular seller or place online/eBay you go to when looking for kimono?

I go with ichiroya.com, and most of the prolific ebay sellers are good (like antiques japan, etc... and ryujapan, etc...)

ps, if you want to email me: aimeeATaimeemajorDOTcom

the most important measurement is your height basically, (and your bust or hips, to make sure it's wide enougH).. and then from there there are rules about colors for your age... and what to wear in what season, etc. :)

I'm super excited about kimono, so if you'd really like to know I'm perfectly willing to chat your ear off.

Actually I have some photos of the fabric I purchased on my trip to Japan. ^_^ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/applcheeks/413325300/in/set-72157594570510789/)

I also have a picture of the goodies I purchased at Mamechiyo. =D (http://www.flickr.com/photos/applcheeks/421636369/in/set-72157594570510789/)

Maybe I should take photos of my other fabric and I can motivate myself. lol I did find an Apple Obidome the other day!

Oh, Aimee, you are adorable! You look as sweet as the cake you ate. ^_^

Aren't nagoya obi wonderful? Most of mine are nagoya, but I have a couple of maru that make me want to cry every time I try to wear them.

Strangely, it's been really windy up here too. I always thought that we had different weather.

You've inspired me -- I think that I'll try to wear kimono when I go to the Cherry Blossom Festival next weekend. Or maybe for the tour I'm giving of the Japanese gallery on Saturday -- um, maybe not, I'll be nervous enough. ^^;
