kitsuke and tea ceremony
Aug. 4th, 2007 09:57 pmtoday I learned Ryu Rei tea ceremony for the first time (when you sit using a special table).
sensei's table has snowflakes cut into it since that is the tea school's symbol.
but I was so sick and the dayquil makes me not too swift, I think I learned and forgot everything. I hope my sensei can forgive me for not only being late but being "slow" of whit today. I do think I actually whisked the tea better today. But still, rather held-back.
We also practiced kitsuke. I learned how to dress when my kimono is longer, and also how to dress friends in my longer kimonos. So that's very useful! Also I got to see her coordinate a couple kimonos for the upcoming event she's going to.
I got my tea ceremony fan today, it's a tiny lovely fan! It has the stamp of all the tea cup makers of this school and the box is signed by the head of the school I think?
I'm trying to sleep alot to get rid of this cold... waaah... don't have time to be sick! I know it's from me overpushing myself too. Poop.
I got to see Judy and Susan geek out over 1770's costuming. (YEAY!!!) I bought a stay pattern at Costume College... that may be my next project (I'm insane.)

I see you wear it with no ohashori? It's really acceptable when the kimono isn't long enough then?

Date: 2007-08-05 05:25 pm (UTC)Only a couple of my kimono are too short - so that I have to wear those without ohashori. But it is considered acceptable sometimes. Not for formal events though. Like a tea ceremony or wedding, its not good to do it at those.
even shorter ladies wear it with no ohashori sometimes because they want to wear a particularly lovely vintage kimono.
