today I learned Ryu Rei tea ceremony for the first time (when you sit using a special table).
sensei's table has snowflakes cut into it since that is the tea school's symbol.
but I was so sick and the dayquil makes me not too swift, I think I learned and forgot everything. I hope my sensei can forgive me for not only being late but being "slow" of whit today. I do think I actually whisked the tea better today. But still, rather held-back.

We also practiced kitsuke. I learned how to dress when my kimono is longer, and also how to dress friends in my longer kimonos. So that's very useful! Also I got to see her coordinate a couple kimonos for the upcoming event she's going to.

I got my tea ceremony fan today, it's a tiny lovely fan! It has the stamp of all the tea cup makers of this school and the box is signed by the head of the school I think?

I'm trying to sleep alot to get rid of this cold... waaah... don't have time to be sick! I know it's from me overpushing myself too. Poop.

I got to see Judy and Susan geek out over 1770's costuming. (YEAY!!!) I bought a stay pattern at Costume College... that may be my next project (I'm insane.)

Congratulations on getting your fan! I was just looking at mine yesterday when I was putting away my kimono things from Thurday and thinking how much I missed studying tea.

This kimono is lovely! It still looks like candy. :D
You always look so natural in them.
I see you wear it with no ohashori? It's really acceptable when the kimono isn't long enough then?

this one, I'm wearing with ohashori, you just can't see it because of my hands maybe. You can see it in the back.
Only a couple of my kimono are too short - so that I have to wear those without ohashori. But it is considered acceptable sometimes. Not for formal events though. Like a tea ceremony or wedding, its not good to do it at those.

even shorter ladies wear it with no ohashori sometimes because they want to wear a particularly lovely vintage kimono.

Oh, possibly. I can see the fold on the side there when I squint...
It all lies so neat and perfect on you.
You don't pad at all, do you? I seem to recall you said you didn't on that thread at IG...

I pad some... , sometimes I dont. All I use normally is a small hand towel with strings on it, or I use the butt-pad I bought on YJA. But if I'm going to out a long time and I want to be more comfortable, I leave it off.
but there's something to be said for wearing it to soak up sweat too... since your midsection is the hottest
