I went to LACMA yesterday and saw the Klimt paintings they and on display as well as some Sargent... neither of which I'd seen in person before. WOW. Somethings just have to be seen in person. Klimt's paintings were very large (about as tall as a person or larger) and had such beautiful blue undertones and outlines in many of the women's faces... not to mention in his gold painting, it had so many 3d embellished areas. Seeing his work in a tiny little 2d calendar just really doesn't compare. Sargent's also was much looser than I expected... only making me envy his talent even more. -_- So beautiful...!

Time to pick out some goofy fabrics with Aimee! You know the drill, most of these would be for making a sundress (probably 1952 style) or a circle skirt. Basically, casual, or "day out" wear. Which are the cutest to get, and on the other side... which are SCARY and I shouldn't buy?

--Black japanese kitties
--Red kimono girls
--Peach Bunnies
--Goldfish
--Seagulls
--Parisian Style
--Kimura Kuties
--Sweet Dreams <--- there is no question about this one, I'm definitely getting it!!

Parisian style is definitely unique, pretty and catches the eye. I'd get that one!

If you ever happen to go on a trip to Europe, definitely take 2 or 3 days in Vienna, especially if you like Klimt and his contemporaries. AWESOME stuff.

I love the red japanese girls, kitties, and bunnies. No to the goldfish and seagulls.

I like the Sweet Dreams one too. Glad you've chosen that one. It's pretty. :)
The seagulls would look good on a sun dress, worn to the beach. It's not way out there and cartoony or anything. Kinda classy, I think.
The fish are kinda spooky. It's the eyes. O.O Like.. the spooky fish on South Park or something. And the Kimura Kuties look kinda.. soulless. They creep me out. But that might just be me.
IMO the Red Kimono Girls and Peach Bunnies are very nice, though. And way cute. :)
Can't wait to see what you make! :D

Definite NO to the goldfish, but I really like the seagulls - they're subtle and unexpected :)

Hi Aimee!

This is Setsuna from DoA. ^^

I've been to LACMA once, and was amazed. Could happily get lost in there...

I vote kitties or seagulls for circle skirt, and kimono girls or Parisian for a whole dress. Good luck!

The Parisian print is from illustrations by Junichi Nakahara; I'd definitly choose it! And I like the seagulls and Sweet dreams. I think the scale of those would work well. The others I find sorta ditsy to make a skirt or dress out of. They'd do better in a smaller garment like a blouse but I think they are really more quilting-scale.

Also, Kimura Kuties is a polyester satin which might be rather hot in the summer.

I like em all except the parisian print. I like the print, I wonder if it might be too obnoxious on a dress though. It's hard to tell exactly but the others look like they'll be more sedate in huge swatches of fabric.

Hey if you order, lemme know. I looove that kitty one. =D

Gasp. That peach bunny pattern is too cute for words. o_o; But that Parisian pattern is very pretty as well.

A no to the Goldfish as well. Sort of "O_O" looking. ^^;;

yey!

I think the first three are the cutest, especially the kimono girls. But I don't think any of them are scary-avoid-at-all-costs.

I like the Parisian style for the dress. I think its the print that would work best for something that uses so much fabric. The smaller prints would become lost on a dress. It has potential to be loud tho so add some accents to mute it down. I'm thinking black accents.

The seagulls would work for a dress as well i think. I can totally see you wearing it with sunglasses and a cute sun hat out on the beach.

For the smaller prints the red kimono girls, kimura kuties and peach bunnies stick out to me. Of course XD I'm biased with bunnies tho! Circle skirt and a hair bow all the way on them. I can also see them in a more egl pinafore/jumper dress.
