I went to LACMA yesterday and saw the Klimt paintings they and on display as well as some Sargent... neither of which I'd seen in person before. WOW. Somethings just have to be seen in person. Klimt's paintings were very large (about as tall as a person or larger) and had such beautiful blue undertones and outlines in many of the women's faces... not to mention in his gold painting, it had so many 3d embellished areas. Seeing his work in a tiny little 2d calendar just really doesn't compare. Sargent's also was much looser than I expected... only making me envy his talent even more. -_- So beautiful...!

Time to pick out some goofy fabrics with Aimee! You know the drill, most of these would be for making a sundress (probably 1952 style) or a circle skirt. Basically, casual, or "day out" wear. Which are the cutest to get, and on the other side... which are SCARY and I shouldn't buy?

--Goldfish

--Parisian Style
--Kimura Kuties
--Sweet Dreams <--- there is no question about this one, I'm definitely getting it!!

The Parisian print is from illustrations by Junichi Nakahara; I'd definitly choose it! And I like the seagulls and Sweet dreams. I think the scale of those would work well. The others I find sorta ditsy to make a skirt or dress out of. They'd do better in a smaller garment like a blouse but I think they are really more quilting-scale.

Also, Kimura Kuties is a polyester satin which might be rather hot in the summer.
