Ok, I'm this close to returning my phone and giving up.

help please?

I know some of you guys have razrs, how do you get your photos from your phone to your computer?

Apparently the cables and drivers for the razr do not work with my mac, unless I'm really mistaken/confused?? WTF, so I have to pay 25 cents every time I want to get a picture off my phone onto my computer??

what other camera phones actually friggin work with a mac?? I'm so angry!

Well it matters who you have service with. Verizon’s has this funky lockout. So it won’t transfer the pix’s unless you Email them to your self. (I’m currently looking for a hack.) I hear that the some other phone companies don’t have the lock out. If you are on aVerizon Razr you might be in luck. In my search one of the first place I went to had a method for getting into the phone. The url is: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/motorola_razr_
Personally I didn’t even want the digi cam just a slim phone. If they I could replace it with an analogue receiver I would have been happy. But I have it.
Well, I hope this helps.

I'm not sure, because their software is so awful. I can't get mine to work half the time, and I'm on Windows XP. My phone is Cingular - what's yours? I can take it up with a friend of mine that works in the Moto cell phone division.

I'm using Verizon, and Verizon told me to my face that there was no way to get it off my phone without emailing it to myself, WHICH IS A LIE. You can get it off your phone, for free, without using verizon's pricey email system if you use the Motorola celphone kit thing (which you're probably using) I'm still pissed that Verizon basically lied to me to try to get me to use their system in desperation.

But the kit I got from motorola is made for PC only. Some stuff on their site says some stuff about macs... but I'm not really sure. :( I'd love it if someone could tell me for sure if there is a way.

If I can't get it to work, I'm going to return my phone and all the crap I bought for it. I might not have much more time before I can return it. :( I bought this phone to be a camera phone. :( If I can't get the pictures off my phone without paying, then I might as well have kept my old phone.

Or, you can keep the phone and use my computer to offramp your pics, then put them in our shared folder.

That's if I ever let you use my computer. Nevarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Maybe you have a friend who can "flash" the phone?
It basically means overwriting the software on your Razr (usually provided by the cell company you're with) with better one. You can even put Linux on a Razr. A friend of mine did that and it works perfectly for him, so I know it can be done. However, I am not sure whether or not it will work with a Mac.
(As much as I love Macs, compatibility with different softwares like that is their big downpoint.)
But go ask around about the flashing.

THIS -> http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=127800 might be helpful for you. Some people there got it to work.

wow, what the fuck. Verizon intentionally crippled the phone's file transfer capabilities so you'd have to use their file transfer service (and pay for it every time you send a photo)

iSync sadly does not move pictures. How I do it is, I send pictures to my PDA and then beam them to the phone via Bluetooth. Sending pictures from the phone to the PDA works the same way.

I would use Bluetooth...if I had the money to buy the USB stuffs. Apparently it's not that expensive at least.

I use Bluetooth, which is easiest. Sometimes I e-mail them to myself, too. T-Mobile has a handy online storage thingey, but I haven't used it. You just need to be careful that you don't end up like Paris Hilton and leave your phone open and vulnerable.

Bah, that stinks that Verizon went and crippled it to make money. <:\ Sorry to hear.

I may end up using bluetooth, but I dont think I bought that option on my phone... so I'd have to do that, and then I'm not sure about my mac, I guess it has bluetooth, I've never tried it....

You should have it enabled, unless Verizon did something extremely screwed up.

Go to the main menu on your phone, then "Settings."
Select "Connection."
Select "Bluetooth Link."
Go to "Set Up." You can select "Find Me" to make your phone discoverable. I forget what you do from that point, to be honest, but I know the Razr manual explains it.

If Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac, there'll be a little icon in the main Apple menu-bar-thing at the top (like where the date and time and your login name are). It looks like a hieroglyph. Hit the Bluetooth icon and select "Browse Device." See if you can find your phone. You may have to enter a PIN (make one up) on your phone and on the computer. If everything goes well, you should see a new dialogue box with three little folders called "audio," "picture," and "video." At least that's how it worked just now for me when I tried it out.

If you didn't get a Bluetooth module on your G5, the USB dongle-things are pretty reasonably priced.

Good luck!

I don't think I paid for Bluetooth on my mac, so i wonder if it has it? unless it's a default thing on the new G5s then I probably don't have it.

what is the USB doggle?

I have a USB cord that connects my mac to my phone, so I can do isync, but I can't figure out how to access the picture folder on the phone, through usb to get the photos off.

Hmm... if you didn't request it, you may not have it. I'm not sure. When I got mine, I specifically asked for it (it was custom-built as opposed to one you'd walk out of the Apple Store with), but that was in 2003.

Dongles: You can get these little things that look like thumb drives or software dongles that you plug into a USB port. There's one here for twenty bucks.

I didn't get a cord with mine, so I couldn't tell you how to get at the files. It doesn't just show up on your desktop like any other disk? I'm suprised.

(And don't listen to the haters telling you that Macs are crap. Both platforms are very good for very specific things, and one doesn't necessarily have to be better than the other. It all comes down to personal preference. :P)

My mac didn't come with bluetooth, but I went to the apple store and bought the thumb bluetooth thing you're talking about. Mine was $36.00 (more than I thought it would be, but worth it so I can use a wireless mouse)

so, if I don't have bluetooth set up on my mac, if I get that little dongle thing ( or something like it) then I can use bluetooth with my mac to DL pics from my phone without service charges? *starry eyes*

ok, I got a dongle... it was able to "find" the phone, but it says the device doesn't have the proper configuration or something... *_* Do you think this is a Verizon problem?

The proper configuration? @_@ I... I do not know. Check the user's manual (God willing the phone came with that, at least) and then I'd give Verizon a little call.

Hehe. Sorry, that's the best I have when it comes to this stuff as I don't have a camera phone. But I do have Windows. ^_~*

I'm sorely tempted to get Aimee a newer Mac, doing so *now* (rather than in 2-3 years) because of the ability to have Windows OS on the newest ones.

Yeah, yeah, it'd help her with the phone thing. Who cares? I just want her to play FFXI, which doesn't support Mac :P
