apparently I just had to reset the modem. MY computer works. Mitch's computer after two lengthy tries (on separate days) by the saint whose worldly name is Rob, still doesn't work.

We're going to try again later.
but at least I have net access. I'm such a bozo. cel phone will work soon, was a dud battery. VW headlights and dashlights apparently ALWAYS worked correctly, I just wasnt pushing the right buttons. there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my car. Further proof that I am a twit.

Saw star wars, really liked it, but have a feeling that just really liked some of the scenes and not nessesarily the movie as a "whole". That being said, my friend Derek has been finagled into building me a lightsaber. a friggin COOL lightsaber. you will all be jealous. oh yes. gonna design the hilt myself (I hope).

anyone know how to make a long flexible flesh-like tooby-tentacle head-peice thing? I was thinking liquid latex coated on something. hrm. must do further research.

saw another movie too. wont tell you which one though. heh.

roughed pages 6 and 7 on big paper, and.. *gasp* I actually kinda like them. this comic stuff is starting to be slightly fun. wow. They're almost tied down too. I should be able to be totally done inking them maybe tomorrow or tues. I still need to finish inking 5 though, but I feel like I'm starting to get on top of things. plus the next few pages are gonna be fun. much ass kicking and snarling. WOO! carnage! :D! sortof. heh. and then angst. whee! :D should be able to have more fun with it since it has more action, if I can just keep myself (or start myself) thinking more cinematographically it should be cool. (ugh. tired. can't think. word forming failing...)

to my knowledge I have mailed out pretty much everything I was supposed to mail. so that's cool.

got the Chris Bachalo Catwoman comic. need to wash the cats again. will call vet on monday if I remember or feel like it.

I really need to scan some photos of my friend crisso's arwen costume, its so totally AWESOME. I feel like a fangirl. hehe.

um yeah, so I guess I'll go to bed, but I hate sleeping alone.
PS. Lilo and Stitch is going to be nifty.

Two great resources for lightsaber construction are theforce.net costuming and props message board (http://boards.theforce.net/board.asp?brd=10019) and the "Big Yellow Box" page (http://bigyellowbox.tripod.com/). Unfortunately, the Big Yellow Box site exceeds its bandwidth pretty much on a daily basis, but it has a mirror site at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/yellowbox/bigyellowbox/index.htm. It's a great resource! Judy and I are planning to use it to build our own new sabers this summer.

As for the tentacle headpiece thingie, I built an Adi Gallia headdress after Episode I. I think I showed you a picture of it already. I didn't use any liquid latex, but made the tentacle pieces out of fabric tubes, stuffed them and filled them with polyfill beads at the bottom for weight, and painted them with watercolors to make them look mottled and fleshy. Obviously, on close scrutiny, anyone can tell it's fabric, but I think it looks pretty good from a distance. :)

Thanks for all the links! :D My friend has already made several lightsabers though, so I think I'll just let him do his thing. plus you know how guys are.

I havent seen a picture of your headress! oy oy! show me! *bounce*
That sounds like it works _really_ well! I'm just wondering if I could get a kinda alien-looking fleshy look if I coated it with something, that would be so much fun. O_o...

YEAY! alien jedi!!

Yeah, I do know how guys are. :)

Well, there are a few not-so-good pictures of my headdress on the Stitchin' Babes site (http://www.stitchinbabes.com/jedi.html). When we finish our redesign, we will have much better Jedi pictures up. I have a completely different costume now, and we're planning a Star Wars costume photo shoot sometime next weekend. Too busy with the Disney Moulin Rouge costumes now! :)

I don't know too much about liquid latex, but you might be able to brush it on over fabric or foam or whatever you use for your base. Theforce.net costuming message board might be a good place for you to check out for ideas, though. I know someone there must have made a Twi'lek costume!

Thanks! We're actually really proud of the belts. I'm glad you noticed. :) We made them completely from scratch, starting with a big ol' sheet of tanning leather. The only parts on them that we didn't fabricate in some way are the buckles. But we searched a lot of different shops for those buckles! ;)

Thanks again for the kind praise! :)

yeah, actually, those belts look difficult to make, and is one thing I really dig about the "traditional garb". that's so awesome that you made them from scratch!

Yeah, I have talked to a few people that made a twi'lek costume about it (oh, they are called head tails, btw). I assume you are looking to do the female twi'lek jedi from ep2 (or maybe the diva plavalaguna from 5th element, I don't know :) What they (not trisha biggar, but a fan who made a twi'lek) did was take upholstery foam and carved the shape out of it, covered that with fabric, and then painted on ballon rubber latex. I would think the hard part would be getting it smooth enough. Maybe you could dip it into the latex rather than painting it on... hmmmm....

you like our jedi belts.... sssswwwwwweeeeeee!!!! They were sooo much work, and rather uncomfortable to wear, but I think they are what makes the costume work! Yay!

wow, thanks for all your help! actually what I'm thinking of doing is making a Shaak Ti costume (the stripey-horn jedi who also has head tails and red skin with white makeup). I totally dig her!!

Do you know by anychance where I can find that kind of foam and balloon rubber latex? I have never tried ANYTHING like this before! this should be challenging! :D

your belts ROCKED. makes the difference between a kinda-sorta jedi costume, and one that looks real, IMHO.

Sorry it took me so long, I had to find the link! :) www.burmanfoam.com I haven't ordered from them yet, but they have been recommended to me several times, so I guess the customer service is okay.

Ack! back to sewing!
