A couple photos from AX and this weekend

I was glad I got to see some people I hadn't seen in a while, even if it was only briefly. Hope everyone had a great time at the con! I was only there for part of Sat and Sunday... I wish I'd had more time to spend with people, sorry.

Simon, Leeron (Tim <3 <3), Kamina (Mitch) and Maguma at the Gurren Lagann movie.


Mitch and Konishi-san (voice of Kamina in Gurren Lagann and America in Hetalia). He was SUPER AWESOME. Mitch won a cool Kamina illustration signboard signed by Konishi. It's rare that Mitch really really likes a character this much, so it was really fun for him to get to be part of the ACP event and interact with the voice actor. I just wish I could have gotten one of the Aniplex "Who the Hell Do you Think I Am" shirts for him. (If you see a cool Kamina t-shirt, please let me know!)


Here's my finished just barely Fujimoto. I'm not going to post a pick with the waterpack, which I did finish, but I made the shoulder straps too short and it pulls at the jacket funny. Lame, should have checked that before-hand! *___* I'll fix it and take some better photos later. I was honestly expecting no one to recognize or care about Fujimoto, but I got a lot of really cute positive reactions, actually. People wanted to hug me even though I had a giant nose. They were cute hugs, too, not scary hugs.

Haha. sorry. this photo is so craptastic. But I finished!

While driving to AX, after getting off the freeway I kept seeing all these discount/bulk clothing stores, and was like, "Is this...the garment district?" Is that area around the convention center close to where you buy your fabric?

I noticed there was a Gold Line stop right there too, which is great to know about, 'cause I avoid driving in LA if I can possibly help it! O_o;;

downtown LA -is- where I buy my fabric (mostly). The specific area is a little farther (a couple streets away) though. It's 9th and Maple. There are garment and toy districts down there, too. Santee Alley is a fun place to look for weird sunglasses, shoes and crazy hawaiian shirts with money signs on them.

Oh yeah! I've seen a sign for the toy district! What kind of stuff do they have there? I always wondered if it was a concentration of toy manufacturing, or literally a bunch of stores that sell toys (I figured that was too good to be true, though).
