Crisso and I met up with some of our friends today that we haven't seen in a long time, in particular Angie! (Hi!) We went to school together (and actually... I know there are a lot of Avatar: the Last Airbender fans reading this, right...? She did a lot of the designs for the show.)
Anyway, it was nice to catch up a bit and eat yummy things!

Some random outfits from recently.
Left: Pearls a gift from Char <3, Shirt from Banana Republic, Belt from Anthropologie, Skirt from BTSSB, Flats from Ciao Bella. I wore this to tea today.
Middle: Shirt from Kmart(!), Vest from Forever21, Skirt from Angelic Pretty, Bunny Bag from BTSSB
Right: Shirt from Delias(?), Belt from H&M, Skirt from Metamorphose (I wore this to work!)

I've been getting braver and more comfortable lately in working froufrou items into my everyday wardrobe. A big help was getting some of my skirts altered at the tailor so that the waist was more comfortable. I debated about it for a long time... but now don't regret it at all. I feel like it frees me up to wear them more and enjoy them more.

Those of you who are "larger" fans of lolita, did you notice the recent two LL size JSKs? this one and this one. They're slightly larger than their normal LL size. Most of you already saw them, but I felt I would be remiss not to mention them. <3

Also, this cute ruffled blouse from Kmart has been making the rounds. It comes in white, lavendar and pink! and it's $4. I have both the pink and lavendar, it's pretty fabulous, actually.

Well, back to cleaning the house!

Ooh I love the Wonder Party skirt with that vest! I've never seen anything like that before but it's totally adorable! What shoes did you plan on wearing with it? I think it could look heaps cute with boots! (And this is awful but PLEASE let me know if you ever sell that skirt. XD)

I love that Meta print too, but I wish you tucked the shirt in! It's sort of pressing down the skirt a bit. But that's probably just me whingeing cos I've always wanted that print so I want you to show it off more XD

You have so many prints I want *_*

Thanks! Next time I'll try tucking it in! I appreciate the suggestion, I'm still trying to figure out how to wear these skirts more casually.

Both the Meta Swan Lake and the Wonder Party skirt I had modded to be a little bigger in the waist for me,... so I doubt I'll ever sell them. I waited for a while to see which were my favorites and then had them modded so I'd wear them more.

Thanks regarding the vest! I just tried it on a whim. I think you're right that it would look cute with boots! :D

I had the same problem when I first bought a skirt! I thought it was going to be so much easier but it's actually way harder than coordinating dresses. o_o But yeah, my go-to solution these days is actually to get a slightly baggy tee or tank top and tuck it into a skirt, sometimes with a belt on top. (Like this >> http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/12/28/2241665/jan6c.jpg) Works every time! I think it's because Lolita clothing always needs to nip in at the waist rather than the hips, or the poof looks odd... at least that's what I've discovered on my body.

Also, even though I fit the skirts, I think I'd like to have mine modded as well. How did you go about this? They're just a little *too* tight for me to really be 100% comfortable. :T

yeah... I mean.. &_& I'll never have a 27 inch waist, even at my thinnest, I don't think... and it sucks to be vaguely uncomfortable all the time, or feel like after a couple hours that the skirts are hurting. I can wear normal brand skirts, but like you said, they're too tight... so I'd only wear them for special occasions, like a lolita meet, or a convention, etc.
But now I feel like I can more easily wear them! So I'm going to try to find more ways to coordinate them both casually and otherwise! :D

That's really cute! Yes! I've been stocking up on some wider cute belts lately, so I'll try that more. Thanks! :D

I really like that lolita has a defined waist and a poofy skirt, I find that's the most flattering on me when it comes to dresses/skirts, so I like that! :)

Basically, I have a local drycleaner who is also a tailor. They take some of my husband's suits in for him, so I figured they would do a nice job for me. Though, thinking back on it, I probably should have had them do one skirt to see how they did before I got more done. But basically, I took them in to them, asked them if they could make them closer to my waist size, and I gave them one of the waist ties for each skirt to sacrifice to make the waistband bigger. I pretty much never use the waist ties anyway... and I hope at this point that I'll keep these for a long time. If not, there are plenty of girls with about the same waist size as me and they did a nice job modifying it.

which skirts did you get altered? how much did they cost?

They did a really nice job! I think they charge me about $20 per skirt. It's Krystal Kleaners (I think that's how it's spelled) on Glendale in Glendale. I gave them one of the back ties so that they could mod the waistband. Even in the case of one with pleats, they did a very nice job.

The ones I got modded so far are:
Black AP Wonder Party,
Black Alice and the Pirates skirt (that one you like)
Black Meta Swan Lake
BABY Black Mother Goose Starry Sky.)

I still have a few other skirts that I'm debating about whether I really really think I'm going to keep them a long time, and thus whether I can justify having them modified. :)

I think I've met Angie, she was there while I was interning at Nick. :O I wonder if she was the one who had Ouran High School Host Club pictures taped to the outside of her cube. XD

oh man am I craving a cup of tea now...
Also you look insanely beautiful in your cute little ensembles. I would love to fine a belt like in the left pic. I wonder if I could find it in Aus.
Ans Kmart were selling those?? Another thing I wonder if they had in Aus. I shall have to check, especially if they are discounting now. But I bet we miss out yet again.

Mmm your tea foodies look so yum and woww, your friend is awesome! I love Avatar <3

Holy crap ordering lavender blouse omfg its 2.99. I DONT KNOW WHAT SIZE TO GET THOUGH?! For reference, what are your measurements (if you want to say) and what size do you wear? I'm petite, but like 40" bust area and have fat arms. XL? or L?

Hey, actually both the L and XL fit me in the bust and waist area. I'm a 39 inch bust approx. but I felt XL was a bit better in the arm area so I went with that, because I have fat arms. XD
I'd say go with the XL.
