"My dear Doctor,
the path has never seemed more slow, and yet I fear I am nearing its end. Reason tells me that you and I are unlikely to meet again, but I think I shall not listen to reason. I have seen the world inside your head and know that all things are possible. Hurry though, my love: my days grow shorter now, and I am so very weak.
Godspeed, my lonely angel."

and for a little humor, husband's reaction to this scene:

My husband and I finished watching Girl in the Fireplace. (I am getting him caught up with me.) The hubby is very smart and jeopardy-friendly (ie that he would be good on the tvgameshow Jeopardy, not in the way that ROSE is jeopardy-friendly. har har... ) and often makes snide comments about this or that thing that is incorrect. (Like he thought the King was too informal when talking to the Doctor and had the wrong accent, etc...)

but we got to the scene with Reinette's letter, and there was silence and then after the episode was over Mitch was talking about how adaptable and clever Reinette was. And wondered if there was a good biography about the real Reinette out there. Yeay Moffat! (I would like to read a good Pompadour biography, actually!)

his quibble was that while Reinette actually has a very educated (but english) accent (He was impressed with her accent) ... But the king's accent is lower than hers. :)

Exactly. The King sounded like an upper-middle-class Londoner, whereas Madame de P sounded like a duchess. (In all likelihood, the reality was rather the converse.)

I love the shading you did on this one. It's really striking. You've been doing such wonderful background work on top of (or rather, in back of) the always great character work. His expression here is just so evocative.

If only I had time to catch up on more series. With each post I get closer and closer to checking out the series for myself.

I love the design of the tardis, so I don't mind drawing it so much as some other background things. plus I have a lot of ref for it so that I can get it kinda sorta right.

but, in general, I need to push myself not to avoid backgrounds more... so if Doctor Who gets me to do that, then great! :) the more you do it the better you get, right?

thanks a ton. Doctor Who is a great and fun series. it's equal parts moving, scary and funny, so I highly recommend.

I love how your piece accentuates that feeling of loss, and how the Doctor has aged so much from this experience alone.

Excuse me while I go watch it again. ::sniffle::

I got Moffat to sign a Clockwork Man figure for me at ComicCon...I was pretty jazzed about that. I had him sign a card for Char, too, not the same impact, and I know she likes the episode and it is signed by the guy who wrote it.
