Royal/T/zippercut's Cirque Du So Lame party!

Some photos from Michelle (Thanks Michelle!)

So I've been super busy cleaning the house because we may try to sell it soon... haven't really had a chance to take a break yet, but I didn't want to miss out on a circus themed party (plus I hadn't gotten to hang out with some of my girlfriends for a bit.) So I decided to throw on my Andre Rose of Versailles jacket and head over.
... this Andre jacket, btw,... is the only "costume" that I keep hung up in my actual closet. (I L U, AJ) Pretty much all of the rest of my costumey stuff is kept in bins in the garage. But I somehow couldn't bare to throw Andre in a bin. I have so much fangirly love for Rose of Versailles. Oscar X Andre FOREVER!
long story, short, I had a lot of fun wearing the jacket last night.

if you're curious, I was wearing Lime Crime magic dust eyeshadow applied mostly wet in Duchess (teal), Pompadour (dark blue), and Circus Girl (yellow). you can kinda see how bright it actually is here in this lame bathroom photo. I'm actually loving my Lime Crime stuff so much that I'm going to get some more.

back to the event, though....
It was so nice to see everyone! I feel bad I didn't take more photos. everyone had really AWESOME AWESOME outfits. ...
... well not everyone. A bunch of boring people who didn't dress up were there, too. COME ON PEOPLE! dressing up is awesome! I feel lucky to have found nice/awesome local friends who also happen to like dressing up.

I loved the circus props they had out in the photobooth (from HBO’s Carnivale) and the photographer was great. I can't wait to see the photos he took!

I really liked FG and Company's vintage circusy prints... and their lovely tophats! (But I didn't take any photos...) If we move, maybe I'll buy a print!

This guy had a fabulous tail coat and an even more fabulous rhinestone-encrusted staff. Obviously we were kindred spirits.

Me and Jenny, she made her outfit in a day. XD

Sheyne's awesome organ grinder outfit! She made the organ and found the monkeys (who actually worked!!) on ebay! SWEET! My inner Phantom of the Opera fangirl tried to contain herself.

Michelle's totally amazing carosel outfit (she made it for this event, too!) Isn't that striped ruffled fabric awesome? Sadly, I didn't get a picture of the bottom of her skirt, it was a carosel. and by that, I don't mean that she drew a carosel on her skirt, I mean that her skirt WAS A CAROSEL. complete with little men and lights!! This is part of why I really love these parties. so much creativity.

Jenny and TrueMee (in her hot lion tamer outfit!) XD

CANDY!! XD

... dammit, Kat is so cute even with a mustache XD

Most awesome lion ever.

Then, even though I'm a tired old lady, we went out for Korean at BCD Tofu House. I was kinda meh about going to a place called Tofu House (ew flavorless jello curd!) and I haven't had that much Korean food before, but I love trying new things! Actually, it was SUPER AWESOME DELICIOUS. I got a meat/tofu combo dish and I actually loved the tofu despite myself. Super yummy. Definitely going again. I obviously need to explore some of the k-town restaurants more!

YEAAAH TOFUUUUU and RIIIICE with awesome people at 3 am YAAAAY

Mitch and I went to Shrine to try on some gothy coats. He he. Dressup doll husband. I think he was kinda scared off by Shrine's website (their models are a little too ... something) Also, I was sure that Mitch would want something kinda subdued, probably all-black... but he tried on this gold and black brocade VERSAILLES coat and just grinned from ear to ear! Ha! The fitted back and length of this "BUCCANEER COAT" looked really great on him,... but Mitch actually thought it was "too plain".
and any coats with a higher collar looked great, too. Though he could just wear a high-collared cravat. *TORN* I also really like Dark Angel's coats..... blarg. I can't decide. I still might just make him one,... but I'm really busy right now, and Mitch wants me to make him a Kamina outfit, so you know.

there's a place my aunt took me in Ktown that had the most AMAZING kalbe. I think that's how it's spelled... anyway! I tend to like korean food better than japanese food because korean stuff is almost always spicy and loaded with garlic. :d Bulgogi is my absolute favorite tho. NOM NOM NOM. there's a place on Sepulveda right before you get to where it intersects with crenshaw called "Da Maat" that has great bulgogi and hot tofu soup here in torrance. :3

Mmmm, Korean food! ♥ ♥ ♥ Hey, did you know that Koreans eat rice with spoons and not chopsticks? I didn't learn that until a few years ago, and I've had all sorts of Asian food. ^_^;

I noticed that one of my friends was eating the water/rice desert with a spoon? but I didn't know that! interesting!

I'm so used to eating rice with chopsticks now that I just do that.

I grew up in South Carolina (so I grew up on fried chicken and rice and stuff)... so rice is always like happyfuntimes for me. :)

Tofu by itself is bleh, but that would be like eating rice by itself, or naked pasta. There are many yummy tofu dishes, I'm glad you've discovered.

That Cirque party looks so awesome! I love Sheyne's organ grinder.

well, I dunno, I love rice by itself... but I'm super addicted to rice. :D
I'll have to try more tofu dishes now. there was a really good looking one at Curry house recently as a special, but I didn't want to try it cause it was tofu-y.... I may have to try it! :D

HOpefully people will post more photos cause mine dont do the costumes justice.

We drove by a pub today, I'm looking forward to wed. XD

And if you ever want more recommendations for Korean food, let me know!

This is my family's favorite restaurant in Koreatown: http://www.chosungalbee.com/

Great Korean bbq, but give their noodle dishes a try too. My family totally loves the nengmyun (noodles in cold beef soup), but there's also bibin nengmyun (noodles in spicy salt) and a few other kinds. :D It's a bit pricey but you do get a lot of food.

It was awesome seeing you again! I thought this one turned out alot better than Rococo. More fun and dressed up people. I was going for miss-matchy candy clown. I expected it to look kinda stupid but it actually doesn't. I do however need brighter make-up and a poofier pettie.

it's just an event party really, often with a costume theme, which is why I like it. Muggles come too, but it's cool because you don't just see your friends in the themed costume, you see random people in costumes you've never seen before, I think which adds a lot of fun whimsy. like the guy I took a photo with in the red tail coat. They're held in a fun space, you can buy cupcakes or drinks (and full food until like 10 pm sometimes.) a nd they have entertainment like djs bands and sideshow-type acts. a lot of the time they have props and such you can take photos with too.
