So this is the artist I was talking about, http://www.hayashi-seiichi.jp/

Also, I have some New Year's mochi (with a rat! XD )
but I can't figure out how to eat it. It's very hard. How do you steam or cook mochi? I'm a horrible cook. Last year I exploded it in the microwave, which can't be good luck. Help me!

Today I worked on my Haute Doll articles, patched a couple holes in the wall, primed the downstairs bathroom and took a quart of white paint around the house covering up scratches and such. I can't wait to finish repainting that downstairs bathroom. It's such an ugly shiny yellow. Whose idea was that!
And I went to the gymn. BOOYA.

I saw this guy at the book store the other day. He had dark-dark skin, bleach-blonde tight curls,... tight pants, a leather with fringe cape and shiny pointy shoes...
,,, and quite a swagger!

A more traditional recipe: http://japanesefood.about.com/od/mochi/r/zoni.htm

Another version of the same thing~ (There's lots of recipes~! :D)

Donna's got a video blog about cooking it somewhere on her site. My family uses chicken instead of seafood.

Hrm~ As for grilling the mochi, if you have a BBQ type set up, just heat the mochi pieces over a grill on both sides like toasting marshmallows- I'm pretty sure a toaster oven (not the slide down ones, but the tray ones with the door) should work nicely.

Because it doesn't have a lot of flavor by itself, we make sauces of kinako powder or sugar/shoyu. You can also take nori and wrap it around the nori like a musubi. It's best when you flip the nori quickly over heat (like an electric stove element to toast it.
