ok... I know some of you are big star wars fans. I am too... but I've never made a star wars costume.

I'm curious, are there any female jedi that have geisha or japanese-influence in their costumes? I thought it might be fun to do kinda what they did for shak-ti and amidala and use my oshiroi makeup for it.
I was kinda thinking about just designing my own jedi outfit, but I'm curious if there are any canon characters I might like. They don't have to be in the movies, they could just be extended universe, or whatever.

I dont want to do all the latex and leather tooling though required for shak ti, even though she's my favorite probably. Maybe someday...

I guess most jedi's have to be earth-tones right? so no red outfits or anything? it seems like they are all tan. I also wonder how much embellishment I can get away with before it's starts being "you are too fancy to be a jedi". Even though Luminara and Shak Ti actually have alot of fancy stuff... (but it's all leather tooling and earthtone fancy)

is there a picture of the sith you mean?

Well if you make an original Jedi outfit you could really do whatever colors you wants. But yes, the majority of Jedi all wear variations of brown and tan...normally not black at all since that's a Dark Side thing for the most part. I know some Jedi in the future Legacy comics right now had some blue and green in their garb...so things seemed to be more lax in the future of Star Wars. The whole point of jedi is not to be fancy and all though, ya know? So colors other than brown could work as long as they aren't too crazy bright and all over the place. It would be awesome to see an OT Jedi wearing Geta though XD

wouldnt red be sith too though? I was thinking of a red over-jacket type thing...
Or should I stick to cool colors (subdued versions of blue or green or purple or tans?)

what does OT Jedi mean?

(I should wear these geta: http://aimeemajor.com/kimono/kopp.jpg ) XD

OT means Original Trilogy XD I meant OC for Original Character though, haha.

and yeah red is mostly a sith thing too, especially if it were a dark red.

well, if I have to mostly stick with tan, I was thinking along these lines, but I wish I could get more outlandish with it... (but unless you have these basic jedi parts (ala obi wan) it seems like people might not recognize you're a jedi... I'm not sure.

my sketch based on tan/obiwan lines: http://aimeemajor.com/images/temp2/jedi.jpg

Oo that's totally lovely! I've seen some Jedi use hakama, it looks so awesome. ObiShawn's wife used hakama for her Jedi garb, it was this great blue weave fabric she used. It would be so lovely to see designs on the tabbards like you drew. The Jedi Librarian had designs on her and it was such a great look:

yeah I was thinking like Jocasta, but different. :)

do you have a picture or link for ObiShawn's wife's costume? I really love blue, maybe I could move the whole scheme over to blue? I dunno. :D

(thanks for all the help, I trust your advice)
