(haha. sortof :P ) For christmas ( a bit early anyway) I got a Dell UltraSharp FlatScreen LCD monitor that I've been wanting for a while. I was going to get an Apple screen, but it didn't have a way to connect the PS2 to it...

the purpose of this was so that I could have much more windows open when working, as well as play my PS2 on my computer monitor.

the inputs on the DELL:
VGA / DVI-D / S-video / Composite / 4 x USB 2.0

what's the best way to connect the PS2 to the monitor?
right now I'm just using the S-Video cable to connect it.

It looks very crisp but really pixelated. :( (Playonline looks fine, but FFXI looks pixely... my Mac applications look AWESOME though)

the PS2 outputs:
HDMI: HDMI out x 2
Analog: AV MULTI OUT x 1
Digital audio: DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) x 1

But the big problem is,... how can I get the sound out of the PS2 into my computer speakers (or to some other speakers? The LCD monitor doesn't have builtin speakers or anything. I dont want to play PS2 without sound! THOUGHTS? Is there a way I can connect my PS2 to my computer speakers (I have separate Altec Lansing speakers for my computer.) or should I buy special PS2 speakers and have all this clutter on my desk?

ok.... back to work for me... *_______*

You could get a li'l A/V input selector and use it for the audio only... then you could switch sources between your computer and PS2 for the speakers.

For that monitor and a PS2, your best bet will only be S-Video. There are devices that can convert a PS2 signal to a VGA signal but since the PS2 was never meant to go VGA in the first place, things will definitly not look right.

As for getting sound out to the speakers from your PS2, grab a cable from Fry's or Best Buy or a similar place that has 2 female RCA jacks at one end and one female headphone jack on the other. This way the 2 audio cables hook up to the RCA ends and the speaker cable goes to the headphone jack end. Granted you have to constantly unplug the speakers from the Mac to the PS2 and back again but it is a gret low cost solution to the problem.

This may seem totally random, but mind if I add you?
