WOOT. For my costume alone (not including all the other fancy-pants in our group),... a year of work, 45 yards of velvet, 45 yards (+?) of rhinestone trim, a gross or three of swarovski crystals, and finally are RoV takarazuka dorks.

AJ as Fersen, Tristen Citrine as Monzette, Judy as the Duchess Moncrieff, me as Marie Antionette and Cheryll as... herself hehe.

I am so happy that I got to see your costumes yesterday. *_* They were just exquisite, though I must admit that my love for velvet makes me especially partial to yours. Congrats on the award! You guys really deserved it.

Absolutely gorgeous work, Aimee! Wow! The whole group looks fantastic! Must be an awesome feeling to go out and about so elegantly dressed.

Definitely far and away the most elaborate and skillfully made costumes at that convention judging from the rest of the photos. ^-^

I hope you all will do a 'pro' photoshoot at some point. Sell prints, too! ^o^

You make me regret not going to Fanime just to have seen these in person. Watching this costume come together has been amazing and then to see all of you looking so incredible. Hopefully I'll manage to see at another con this year. I second the hopes for a photo shoot! :)

Gorgeous costume! :)

Is this the actual Marie Antoinette, as in the "eccentric" (crazy haha) lady who use to play shepardess in her artificial village she had constructed on the grounds of Louis' hunting lodge, or is there a character of some sort somewhere of the same name?

And in the case of the real, have you heard there's a movie being made about her with Kirsten Dunst as Marie?

Well, yes... and no. Yeah, it's based on the same person, and is (loosely) the story with a couple of fictionalized love stories. However, the costumes we did are from the Takarazuka version of Rose of Versailles, and the costumes from those aren't even in the same realm of being historically accurate.

it was painful to wear (the skirt was really really heavy) but some advil, and just being that damn sparkly went a long way to making me very very happy when wearing it. :) I'm so grateful to be done with this thing. It's fun being a pretty pretty princess!

just... WOW o___O your costumes are just amazing !!!! Congratulations to everyone !!
I always loved this show, I read the manga (and I cried so much) and I bought the DVD boxs. It was a great idea to adapt it in a cosplay, it's not usual (maybe because the costumes are quite difficult to make)

You have a great bow from a french girl, fan of Versailles no Bara ;)

btw, I drew a fanart from Oscar and Marie Antoinette that you can find on my Deviantart Gallery : http://coda-leia.deviantart.com

Perhaps I am reading the post wrong. But did you actually make the dress?? If so I am so envious and I want to learn how to sew etc. And if you did make it, do you take commissions?

Sometimes I wonder if I am taking the wrong thing at Sheridan. But I think it has more to do with the fact that I am interested in anything creative or artsy.

^_^ yes, I made the dress. We each made our own costumes. I don't take commission though as I dont have much free time, and what free time I do have I want to do things for myself (like this dress)
