I came home late and mitch had left me a note on the door saying there were cookies in the kitchen. :D what a sweet man!!!!

I actually got on ICQ and chatted with Steph and Jen today, what a rarity that is :) fun though. I miss you guys. :) it's gonna be fun slumberpartying at Fanime! ruuuckus! :D I think we should paint colin's toe nails, isnt he gonna be the only guy?

gah I'm afraid people are going to pelt me for making yet ANOTHER yuna costume. *sigh* Oh well. its really fun though. :) I adore the colors and beads... and I get to PAINT STUFF! :D. I'm going to try and wrap my hair for the beady thing (and will have to get a hair cut). luckily no dying needed as we are similar hair colors. I wanted to get some highlights anyway.

*ahem* so... I pleated a skirt this afternoon! :D and I didnt get the thread caught once, and I didn't even sew any of the seams backwards! WOO GO ME!

though I did break one of crisso's sewing machine needles. (second one I've broken in 6 months. I think I owe her some needles. :[ ) next time I will bring my glasses so I don't run over the pins in the fabric and thus break the needle.
speaking of glasses I need some contacts for my costume. :)
all I have left on her skirt is to do the waist band and to paint the pattern (that's the fun part! :D) I'm going to embellish the flowers a little bit... they wont be exactly like in the character designs. it'll just make it more fun. (and purdy)

Crisso showed me a way to iron the hem and then fold it over and the sew it to get a better looking hem... I'm very jazzed about that, it makes the skirt look nicer. ^_^

Hoping to go out with her later this week and brainstorm comic stuff with her over lunch.
Stephanie (coworker from Rough Draft) wants to go down to LA with us, so hopefully that will happen on Thurs. *crosses fingers* but I can work on Yuna's top, finding beads and painting the skirt until then. I hope its going to look ok! I'm still very new to all this. but at least I don't feel as clutsey around the sewing machine! :)

I really need a rigged model for Maya that I can use for portfolio reels... I'm hoping some of our friends will have one. (perhaps Jack Skellington? he'd be fun) I need to finish my comic at least somewhat though before I throw myself full force into maya.

also did A TON of sketches of Charlotte from VHD this afternoon, detailing all her costume parts and such. one day when I'm a bit more talented of a seamstress I'm going to try and make that. last time I tried to sew a cape it was disastrous, so wont be trying that again for at least a little bit of time yet.
I have a few more simple costumes to conquer first. ^_-

Gambatte nee!! I can't wait to see the skirt finished! You'll do SUCH a great job on the painting, I know! Any idea what you'll use for painting the fabric?
We have got to be Yunas together at Fanime, and A-kon! Friday will be the big FF day at Fanime anyway, let's stalk Tidus cosplayers together muahahaha!
Oh, and don't worry about breaking needles, it happens all the time! My roommate and I break them all the time on projetcs and we tend to use the 14s! It's like every two weeks, a new box needs to be bought LOL. You can't help it sometimes when you sew 8 layers together ^^;.

welp, I found this fabric paint stuff, I think it's supposed to be puffy paint, but I'm going to use a brush with it, I just really liked the colors. what I'd like to do is look up some of my clothing reference books and see how people paint floral designs on kimonos, etc... and then sortof "translate" Yuna's design with that. it'll be fun! :D

there better be some hot tidus' there! :D *L*

2 broken needles in 6 months?! You're doing very well! I typically break several per project. Sigh... luckily they're not super expensive. Still, I hate when I hear that snapping noise. Bleh.

yuna's strand of beads is actually an earring...i thought it was a hair wrap, too, but recently i found a clear shot of that side of her head with her hair swept back -- it's an earring! what a heavy earring it must be @_o;; she also has one or two more piercings on that one ear, with smaller strands of beads.

but about hair wraps, i dunno if this'd be of any use to you, but my old best friend and i used to make lots of "fake" hair wraps back in middle school by using embroidery floss and an alligator clip. we'd tie the floss onto the clip, knot the floss around itself, add beads at the end, and we had removeable hair wraps! XD it was a lot easier to make those than to actually wrap the floss around our hair.

man thanks! I was going to use real beads, but if its an earring, I should use paperclay or wood or something otherwise its gonna be too heavy! AGH!
