Gingham check creeping rose doll one piece dress

BABY is rereleasing the gingham check dress... the same one that's been their front page drawing forever (circa 2002)... the same one that I adore... and the same one that was the first BABY/VOLKS collaboration. (more pics: 1, 2, 3.) Those last two are Kyoko from Kamikaze Girls wearing the dress (with matching Kira BJD). The dress never showed up in Kamikaze Girls the film... but Novala does describe a gingham dress in the book. (""...a red gingham-checked dress with a shirred bodice and three tiers of lace on either side, the whole thing accented with red ribbons and extravagantly adorable corsage-type roses." ~ re: ~ egl)

The bust and waist measurements would fit me... but I'd worry about the arms... and how short-waisted (or short-skirted) it might be. Plus it really truly is a dress that I could easily make myself, pretty much. (I could even do the ribbon embroidery and rhinestones myself) And I really need to save money... So, I'll be good. But isn't this amazing? I wonder if anyone else gives a crap. haha.

Oh I saw.

I couldn't do the human-sized dress myself (my long-waistedness sucks), but I would love to put the doll-sized one on one of our girls, especially my School B if she had her body (she's just being a lap-Noodle right now until probably fall or so).

I hear you about the long waist, that's a major drawback for me buying it. The straps aren't something that could be modded, either, so I'd be better off making it myself. <3

Based on this, it appears that there is a full doll that wears the outfit. Doesn't appear the dress comes alone, but I wouldn't be surprised if, at some point, someone was to sell it separate. Just not too soon.

I am so bummed about the one called Liselotte, as my grandmother had a close friend of the same name who I considered family (now passed away). At the same time, I am a little short on room :)

oh, interesting! so I wonder if VOLKS is going to that tea party, or if it's just a BABY thing. It's such a weird event... they're holding it on a TUES. Which makes it really hard for people from out of town to come.

One of my friend posted a picture of a doll wearing the dress. Cannot remember the name. And when I saw it, I was like, I KNOW THAT DRESS!!!!

And I believe they sold the doll and the dress as a set. Although, I have never seen it personally (in person)

They sold the doll dress with Kira as a limited edition set. This time they are selling the doll dress with Lieselotte. I was thinking of getting the dress for myself too but I'm worried about how the bodice would look on me. I think it would be sweet to have the dress on a doll though.

Were I to only be able to buy one dress in the world for EGL, this would be it. I actually knew the name of this dress, I saw someone with it at Otakon a few years ago, and this is the one I always wanted.

I'm actually going to the BTSSB Tea Party in SF shop in a couple of weeks. They'll be selling both the gingham dress and the wedding dress, and they'll also have the new collaboration dolls Charlotte (in the wedding set) and Lieselotte (in the red set) for sale there. No word yet on whether we'll have to do a lottery for them, since we don't know how many dolls will be available. I'm hoping to get a Lieselotte, and my girlfriend is hoping for Charlotte. There is rumor of other A&P stuff since the theme is nautical and the special guest is Intetsu.

yeah... it's just pretty much impossible for me to go up to San Fran on a weeknight. I kinda wanted to go even before they said anything about it being this dress. Ah well. :) I'm sure you'll have a great time! I'll look forward to hearing/seeing about it later!
