From Far Away Cosplay Photos

The photos are by Jason. I did some very minor lighting editing on them since he didn't have time. But I really wanted to show you guys these! :) Thanks again to Jason for doing such a fun shoot with us.

These are the two main characters, Noriko and Izark, from the manga "From Far Away" (Kanata Kara) by Kyoko Hikawa , which I love! (read it!) These aren't the hardest costumes... and we probably don't look a ton like the characters, but I just really love this manga and wanted to cosplay it anyway.
You can see some reference pictures of Noriko and Izark here and here. I did these relatively cheaply... all with fabric I already had. Even the wig was recycled! WOOT, FREE COSPLAY! SORTOF! :)

The story is basically that Noriko is a girl from normal Japan who is sucked into another world, much like Magic Knights Rayearth, Fushigi Yûgi or Escaflowne. She immediately meets Izark... who we later discover has a demon nature that he's trying to suppress. Supposedly, Noriko is the person fated to turn him into a demon, but they end up liking each other, and being separated and reunited, and traveling together, etc. You'd think this would be cliche, but the charming relationships in this manga... the fact that Noriko is a positive and strong character (unlike Miaka ( ew)), and the over-all more Fruits-Basket-like feeling to it make it definitely worth reading. It's one of my top 10 manga, I think.



This one's a lil blurry, but I think it's cute anyway. :)
