14 megs approximately. using sorenson video compression. I appologize if you arent able to view it, but MOST people should be able to view it. its a quicktime movie.

this is the final movie. the colors on better versions of this movie are slightly more vibrant. (ie the water effects are a teal color instead of black, and the backgrounds have more vibrant greens).

I did all the animation, backgrounds and boarding for this film. My roomate crisso helped me out and did most of the effects animation for me. beth sleven is the voice of Mai (the main character) Corny cole is the big dragon, and crisso and beth are the smaller dragons.

But this is my film. my little baby :), probably the last one I'll do for a little while at least.

It's such a pretty movie, very sweet. The backgrounds are lovely and there are pretty water splashes. The characters are so wonderfully round! And Mai and all of them look so sweet. And the triumph at the end! RISE!

Okay, Aimee, here is me being persnickety. The ridiculous movie critic in me is coming out. I'm pretty sure you like honest critiques, so I hope you don't mind too much that I'm posting these. Here are my crits on it:

There are several places where I feel the pacing could be better, like slower in the beginning to set the scene better. It jumps a bit. And I feel that several of the camera angle jumps are too drastic and it is hard to get a good steady picture of where the characters are in relation to each other, esp. at the end. Specific crits -- it would be nice if the voice of the big teacher dragon was clearer at the beginning. It's hard to tell he said "rise." And when Mai is up in the cliff and has just made her first rock rise, she gets a strange expression, like she is a little angry, or about to pounce. I think she is actually just concentrating, but it confused me a bit. :)

Okay, back the well-deserved praise! I love the little laughing noises Mai makes at the end. And the wonderful happy expression on her face. Triumph!
I've loved the teacher dragon from the beginning, he is a wonderful, sweet, caring father figure. I love it. And all the little girls are sweet and lovely. Beautiful character design and story concept. Sweetness and light and overcoming obstacles and renewing faith in self, the best stuff.
Great film Aimee! You are gifted and skilled and you should be very proud of what you've accomplished. Good luck with all your endeveours through this life. And I truely hope you get all these animation companies on track and get them to do beautiful, well crafted stories and characters. :D

well... since this is the 8bit mono version of the films audio track, you'll just have to take my word on it that the dragon's voice is much more clear in the "actual" version of this film.

I'd agree with you that some of the pacing is a little too fast....

but I like her expressions in the area you discussed, becuase she is annoyed. she's upset she cant do this and everyone else can. so that's why she looks mad. ;)
