hey folks, I'm out of town for Burnley and Trowbridge 18th century zone front gown class with Judy. I'll be gone until late Sunday. If you really really need me for something use my macmail account if you have it or leave me a comment here.
I'm making my gown with this fabric. I'm looking forward to the class,... but I'm worried as this is more strictly historical than I've ever done, I hope I do ok!

I'm finally feeling a little bit better this morning (I'm such a whiney baby when I'm sick.) Just gotta make it through May. RAARRR!

Enjoy some more rose and iris photos:

MORE PHOTOS FROM DESCANSO

Various Iris plantings

A bed of various flowers

Someone left these old gloves here. :)

Irises

The Bishop with unknown Clematis

I really like White Pet. Maybe next year. :)

Trevor Griffiths
(not sure if this one was from Huntington or Descanso...)

Some of these photos of Symphony are from Huntington, but I'm just going to put them all here. Both plants were covered with blooms. This rose is really growing on me after seeing it a few times in different places... Maybe I'll get it next year. :)

Lavender Lassie who stole my heart.
SMELLS SO GOOD. Due to seeing this rose, I bought one and potted it up. The plan is to put it climbing up a pergola or arbor. We'll see. For now it can grow.

LOOK AT THAT! :D

Penelope which also stole my heart and smells like a dream. Due to seeing this rose, I bought one... I just got it in the mail last night and planted it against the garage in the front yard with the big pink camellia. It's shade tolerant so it should do well there. If so, maybe I'll get it a brother for the slightly shadier spot behind it.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Le Vesuve struck me as having a very pretty flower, but the foliage wasn't that great. I keep thinking that maybe teas don't like it around here or something. :\ I dunno. I see other's Le Vesuve online and think they are gorgeous,... but when I see them in person around here, not so much.

Love this one.
Magna Charta

Maman Cochet Cl
The knodding heads and blooms are charming. I have a small one of this at home... I think if it does well for me, I'll really have to put it on an arbor or a pergola to fully appreciate it. If you look hard, you can see it's crispy a little, but still very pretty.
After studying and restudying the old teas and old hybrid teas at Huntington and Descanso... I'm pretty sure that Maman Cochet and La France are my favorites... so... yay?

Sir Edward Elgar
I may have to get this rose next year... I really like it.

A good example of what I was talking about with the old teas looking crispy...
Souvenir De Pierre Notting

totally charming, Sun Flare

Julia's Rose

Grandma's Lace (so pretty)

More Gene Boerner

More photos of the cute "cottage"

Probably Scarborough Fair

Erfurt

Enfant De France

Charles Austin (seriously growing on me)

Clair Matin

Captain Thomas

Alchymist (love love love) Due to seeing this rose, I bought one and potted it up.

Charming single Awayuki

I really like the full flush of the wichurana ramblers... but they don't really have scent for me. But I enjoyed taking photos of these at Descanso.

Yes, I can't wait to see what you create. A dress made with that fabric is going to be amazing.

These are so gorgeous! Can't wait for it to get warm enough out here to start planting again.
