"He rejoiced to find such a beautiful girl and took her home. He and his wife raised her as their own child and named her Kaguya-hime (かぐや姫 "radiant-night princess"). "

Kaguya-hime's heian kasane is "under the snow". This one took forever to do. And with that... I got 3 pieces done this weekend! That's a big relief to me. I think I still need to do at least 4 or so more... but this is a big chunk.

This might be my favorite so far. The faces and hair on the couple are drawn and colored really well. The contrast between the old man's cap and hair texture is great. I love the poses and expressions on all three characters. The framing with the fish/kettle gives a great cozy feeling.

I am so dumb! I was looking at your art here on LJ and I was like...wow she draws really good...it reminds me of something though...and then I saw your DA link and was like "OMG it is the lady who made Japan Ai!!!" I actually was just adding people from the DOA site in the LJ section and I am glad that I now get to see your LJ. Keep up the good work, you are truly an amazing person!

Well, I know I keep saying it, but I love your Kaguya-hime pieces. I especially like the faces of the old man and his wife on this one, there's something about their expressions that I find very peaceful. Please make a book with these in the future! XD

I love this whole set that you've done, but this one in particular made me squee out loud. Just the elderly couple, with their teeny little princess clinging to her kimono with one hand and his thumb with the other. I completely feel their love for their tiny daughter. And then all the details like the fish, it kind of reminds me of Ponyo, in a way.

Kaguyahime has always been my favorite. I love your illustrations, you should do an illustrated Japanese Children's fairy tale book.I really love your artwork. My next is Momotaro (just in case).

Cutest one to date! Very heartwarming; you can see how much love is in the couple's faces for their new daughter. It's fantastic! Also, what is the art book that you're looking at in the second picture? It looks like an interesting one.
