My mom came out to help me reorganize my house a bit. We did a ton of work! I'll just show you a few things we updated. (I'll show you more later, as I have time... really busy right now...)

I'd been admiring people making vinyl quote decals for their wall... and wooden letters, too... so finally decided to custom order a custom woodcut phrase for our guest room. It's of course, from Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
The wooden letters were made for me by BouncingOffTheWalls on etsy.

Here's the other side of the room, which is -mostly- the same... but we updated a few things.
( The vinyl wall decals are from blankcanvasdesigns on etsy, and you can search etsy for similar stuff, there's lots of great shops. More detail on the furniture etc in my previous post. )

We put up my lanterns from Gion and Pontocho (geisha districts in Kyoto that we visited... actually, the larger lantern is from Gion, which we stayed in a beautiful ryokan for a few nights...)

What Mitch calls the useless shelf now has a slight use... displaying useless items. <3

Here's the loft. It hasn't changed much, but I love that we have some posters up now. (Escaflowne and Gargoyles). Witness Youta's magical sun spot.

Gargoyles' READ Library poster

Fancy smart books surrounded by geekery.

Living room, dining room, halls, kitchen and garden to follow (maybe tomorrow)

Heeee, I totally have that Escaflowne poster somewhere. Oh man, that was one of my first Internet fandoms!

Where did you get the wall decals? I know Ikea has some (I decorated my dresser with it). I have all this space above my TV in the new place and I'm trying to figure out what to do to occupy the area, but not being too distracting, so I figure either wall decals or some shelves would be nice.

I'll have to take pics of the place once it's all cleaned up.

I definitely want to make some throw pillows (and curtains) but I haven't had time *hand to forehead* :)

Thanks for the links!

It's been AGES since I've watched that show/movie. I wonder if it still holds up.

I think escaflowne is a little slow starting, but yeah, I think it holds up. I think good story a nd good animation always stands the test of time. It's not like I was a child when I first saw it, you know? it's not like She-ra, which is not actually that great, but I loved it as a kid. :)

Looking good. "Be Our Guest" is a nice touch on the wall.
I have that same Serra figurine, but my kids broke her.

So cute :) LOOK AT YOUTA!!!! haha i love it!

The guest room is really nice! You know you have a million little useless figures or plushies to stick on those shelves, admit it!

BTW remind me to tell you traumatizing story I have associated with Escaflowne and that damn poster. ugh. I can never go in your loft again :(

The room is looking good! I must say, my inner 12 year old is so jealous of that Gargoyles READ poster. I remember back in the 7th grade my art teacher having one on the wall in her classroom and I always begged her to give it to me at the end of the year. I never got it, and have always kept an eye out for it since. It looks awesome in the guest room with all those books. :D

I love wall tattoos. They're particularly good for spicing up a wall without the worry about framed art falling on your head during an earthquake or the like. (The reason I don't have anything above my bed specifically, although all other walls are fine.)

My husband knows some German, so sometimes he tries to read German books. He can understand basic German when people speak to him, but isn't able to speak all that well, if that makes sense. :)
