"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breath, to think, to enjoy, to love."
~ Marcus Aurelius

Great Maiden's Blush Alba rose.
My first bloom of this type! Supposedly the rose was introduced around 1550! I have two of them in a shady part of my front yard right next to the house. They don't look like normal roses... the leaves and thorns and buds are different. The buds look like someone ate the top part off and it took a very long time for the bud to open... But then it blooms and it's gorgeous and you realize it's normal for that plant. It's charming! I'm so glad I got it.

That blossom looks really familiar... I think my mother has a couple of prints with that type of flower on it, like pages from a naturalist's book or something.

Leaves are typical alba...very blue. The sepals on the buds are so elegant, aren't they?

One of my GMB is in a bag awaiting transplant...I'm getting worried...no leaves yet :: bites nails ::

You have a dwarf weeping cherry, right? How's it been growing for you? (I'm about to buy one for the new yard.)

yaaay! :D (re: GMB) I hope your GMB will be ok! I bet it will.

I'm not sure if it's a dwarf or not...? definitely weeping. It's called "snow fountain".

So pretty!

I think the one I got is more pink...but I don't think it'll bloom for a couple years, I got a real wee baby.

Hi. A. Noni. Mouse here. That is a beautiful flower. The only one I have are tiny tea roses. By the way, I like the saying you had today. Old Marcus was one wise dude! Have a terrific day!
