So, I suddenly realized that we have NO pictures up in our house. Even though we have some pretty fun stuff.. . like my slightly tattered but still awesome Beauty and the Beast poster signed by Glen Keane and James Baxter and my Chris Buck signed Tarzan one-sheet and my Richard Taylor signed Lord of the Rings poster... The funny thing is, I don't usually care about having things signed, but these I like and have happy memories attached to each meeting.

... but some of it, I dunno. I feel like I need to go on some EPIC SEARCH for more awesome art to litter my home with. I feel like some of the stuff I have is lame and isn't really me enough now. Like I LOVE Mike Mignola's Hellboy... but do I have a poster by him that's indicative of what I love about his work? No. I'd really like to get some more of my favorite Japanese woodblock prints up, too... (and obviously, I need to frame something Doctor Who... and I'd like to print out some of my favorite cosplay photos and vacation photos... )

I still really need to get some cels framed in the next year or two. (We only have two cels framed...) It's lame to have these dream cels of mine stuck in a book where I never see them. Namely, Secret of Nimh, The Last Unicorn, SheRa, Kiki's Delivery Service and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Maybe I can get one framed for my birthday or something. Just kinda pricey because cels have to be framed specially. The plan is to put the animation art in the dining room. It doesn't get direct sunlight and we leave the cellular shades down in there, so they'd probably be safe enough. I mean, it's not like I can put them in a total dark out room, I guess. so.. yeah. At least there we'd see them a lot and it'd be cool for when we have company and use it as a dining room.

Tomorrow we plant clematis!

Seeing your cel collection several years ago on your site made me want to start my own <3

So far my bf and I only have some drawings of Pumbaa, a small Iago and a scrapped cleanup of Facilier. Do you know how drawings should be framed? I heard once from a professional in the field of paper and art supplies say that you have to get acid-free tape and backboard and seal the drawing to the glass to keep it preserved as best as possible, but I haven't really found anything online about it.

This also intrigues me: http://www.animationartconservation.com/index.php?c=con&p=paint_layers

he fixes them so good!

Yeah, I really don't collect anymore and I only kept my very very favorites. The only thing I'd be interested in at this point is a production Glen Keane Beast rough, and even then, only certain things. That would be like my dream thing. haha. Oh well, I'll probably never get it.

Personally... I have few that I'm so attached too and their irreplaceable... so I'm just going to take mine to a framer that does a lot of animation art, so I'll know that he'll do it properly and I wont have to worry about it, even if it is kinda pricey. (hence the... maybe I'll get ONE framed this year...)

Yeah a Glen Keane drawing would be awesome :D

Actually, I've seen a bunch of "Glen Keane" drawings up on ebay recently that I have suspected are fakes, so far they've all been what I'm guessing are redraws or traces of drawings that are up on the Art of Glen Keane blog and they go for a couple hundred each time, yet I have no complete proof so I can't do anything. I contacted the seller and he said he was getting them from a "trusted Disney animator" and that they are Glen's scraps or earlier drawings, but some of them are extremely suspicious.
Actually could I show you them and get your opinion? My bf made a blog to post the comparisons up I could send that to you.

sure, you can show me, but I'm no expert!

it's so hard, because... how are you really to know without asking Glen himself? I bought a one that was sold as "his" a while back, and then I met him and asked him if he'd sign it,... and he said it wasn't his drawing. :\ Kindof embarrassing!
I have a sketch by him that he did impromptu of the beast for me... but, you know... a production one from a great scene is something different, you know?

Oh wow! That reeeally sucks! Embarrassing for sure, I wonder if he gets that often.

And after asking him if they're his, I wonder if he cares or can do anything about it anyway. And it's totally not fair that people are unknowingly paying a good amount of money for these drawings :/

Anyway: http://disneyfakes.blogspot.com/
We made that to keep track of them and get peoples' opinions since it really irritates us! If there's a good amount people who think they're fake maybe we can bring it up on Cartoon Brew and they can make a warning post about it, so far we've kept everything anonymous including the sellers.

I'd agree that a lot of them definitely appear, to me... to be fake.

A good book on framing will tell you how to do your drawings securely. It's not difficult (or even expensive) if you can find the right supplies -- and finding acid-free materials is much, much easier these days.

thanks, I'd really rather not take a chance with things that are so important to me, though.

Understood. I was thinking more of the drawings than the cells. You want somebody who knows what they're doing for that.

I was just thinking about this the other day about how my walls seem rather bare. I mean, I have an awesome portrait by Mercer Mayer, a painting by the Carspeckens and a hanging shield and a Catholic cross and that's about the extent of my decorating.
I recently got a cardboard cutout of the Fourth Doctor, so I was thinking of hanging that up, but otherwise I have really no interior design sense.

Perhaps some family photos, even your wedding photos?
My aunt used to have this looooong hallway in which it was just dozens and dozens of family photos, both immediate and extended.
