San Jose Trip, Green Waffles and Chi Pao
Feb. 24th, 2010 09:16 am
My dear friend AJ is getting married and I'm going to be a bridesmaid! I get to wear a Chi Pao! :D TEAL WITH DRAGONS. This is just a fitting, so one sleeve is lower, there are pins at the side seams and it's not hemmed, but isn't it cool? I've always wanted a chi pao and now I feel like I have a for-real-one for a for-real-reason. haha. DRAGONS, YA'LL.

More random photos from this past weekend....
What Aimee does while waiting for planes:

Various flowers I saw randomly while visting my NorCal girls.

Not sure if these are double plum or sakura! (probably plum... a little early for sakura...) They were the most hot pink I've ever seen, though!

I think these are jasmine? (year of the tiger!) They were in the asian shopping center were we were getting our chi pao fitted. I love exploring shopping centers that are a totally different culture from me. Especially if they have alien food.

Even after eating it, I'm not sure what this green waffle was. It didn't taste like green tea but was very sweet.

EGG TART.

Trying on of Judy's awesome hats

after passing out on Judy's sofa watching Priscilla Queen of the Desert and repeatedly flipping through her Victorian Fashion Plate books... we went to have tea.
I wore toned-down lolita. (Dress by BABY, purse by Angelic Pretty, the rest various). Look at me, I was brave enough to wear red tights!

All in all, a very restful weekend with lovely ladies and lovely food.

Date: 2010-02-24 05:36 pm (UTC)You look really cute in the chinese dress :3 SO AZN! I know what you mean about like... being able to wear a real one.. for a REAL REASON! hahaha. People associate them with a sort of costume-y look now, it's annoying :P Side note, the Vietnmese Aoi Dai has a similar top part, and it always irritated me that the snaps above the chest by the shoulder ALWAYS CAME OFF GAHH!
I like all the hat pics of you, too :) so cute!! WAHHH I WISH I WAS THERE! haha

Date: 2010-02-25 01:23 am (UTC)I like Aoi Dai, too! Actually (here's where my horrible geek side shows even more) I wanted to do an Aoi Dai for Furuba cosplay, maybe have it made or something.
Have fun this weekend!
I wanna go have Korean BBQ with you guys sometime soon. Crisso hasn't ever been to a good one so I'd like to take her.

Date: 2010-02-24 08:12 pm (UTC)The green waffle might be a pandan waffle? They're all over the place in Singapore, and are often more advanced versions that have a variety of fillings like chocolate, or cheese, and so on. Since you described it as sweet I think that might be it.
[And I think the red tights + red headband combo is lovely. Headbands are adorable especially with your bangs and all, so classic.]

Date: 2010-02-24 09:25 pm (UTC)The waffle may have been "Melon" One of my obsessions is Melon Pan... they're green? I'd have to taste it to tell tho. :/

Date: 2010-02-24 10:32 pm (UTC)I bought some qipao tops in Taiwan, custom-made, but they don't fit anymore. snifffff. Someday.
I think the green waffle is probably pandan too. Filipino bakeries here have lots of pandan stuff.
Looks like a fun trip!

Date: 2010-02-25 01:43 am (UTC)Thanks man! I'm trying to think of excuses to wear the qi pao again because I really like it! I'm sure I'll figure out some, but regardless I'll use it more than my previous bridesmaid dress... which I'm not even sure where it is. lol.

Yellow flowers look like Forsythia to me, first thing to bloom in the Spring when we lived in Boston. :)

Date: 2010-02-25 01:45 pm (UTC)Soo many beautiful flowers! I'm beginning to like plum more than sakura.. but thats just because of the pictures. It'll be cherry blossom viewing time here in Japan soon, huzzah! Going to Kyoto and Nara for the win, I'm soo excited!
That place where you had tea just looks amazing. Little heart raviolis? Sandwiches? I'm drooling over here, I want a meal like that. Cmon Japan, get with the program.
In a pagoda she orders a soda bannanna bannanna...
