Cheryll sent me a framed version of the Sleeping Beauty photo she took of us! It makes me so happy. AJ and Judy, a while back, started having some of their favorite cosplay photos/memories framed and up around the house and I thought it was a really great idea. Because, like most costumers, we spend a lot of time making these, we're emotionally attached to them, often a pretty photo results, and the photo is you with your friends! Anyway,... I'm not sure which wall I'm going to put mine up on, but I'm looking forward to it.

from: azetylen.deviantart.com, kaikida.deviantart.com, mrgnob.deviantart.com (beautiful costumes and cosplayers, too!)

I know there -must- be some museum or location that wouldn't charge me a million dollars to shoot cosplay there... but heck if I know where it is. I would pay a decent amount and travel a decent amount to be able to shoot some of my froufrou costumes in a gorgeous place like this. Obviously, if you have suggestions, I'm all ears! <3

That photo of you guys at the aquarium is so lovely (aided by loving costumes as well!). I do agree, when you have those wonderful photos with friends costuming, its always worth putting out for all to see.

Balboa Park in San Diego, maybe? The architecture is gorgeous Spanish Mission, and there are some really beautiful outdoor spaces there as well. And it's not that far away from you, IIRC.

I've been meaning to tell you for a long time that I think the Sleeping Beauty shot is beyond stellar - it really is just exquisite and perfect and very, very magical. I'm glad to hear you're going to hang it!

What about an old theater somewhere? I know the Orpheum in SF is pretty beautiful, even if you're just in the lobby:

http://images.travelpod.com/users/sannasmom/4.1256932983.orpheum-theatre.jpg

And being a theater I think they'd understand the cosplay hobby to some degree. ;)

Maybe a museum lobby is an other option too look into? Unfortunately all of the specific places I can think of that might be along those lines are in SF.

I LOVE the old theaters downtown in LA, too. I hadn't thought of asking them if they'd allow a shoot. We'd probably have to pay, but... I wouldn't mind paying if it wasn't exorbitant... I'll look into it. <3

the orpheum in LA is very pretty, too.

All the places I know of are in St. Louis. The fox theater, the american theater and the old philharmonic building if it's still around would be great... and they probably wouldn't care if it was between shows and during a week day afternoon.

I was looking for hotel photos for a story idea, and I found a picture of a beautiful lobby in the "Elk's Club #99" in LA. http://oldschoolla.com/photos/jld214cod.JPG ...It might not be exactly like what you're looking for, but it was very pretty!

Ooh, and you probably already know about the Los Angeles Theatre: http://oldschoolla.com/photos/LosAngelesT4.jpg

I could so see you on those steps in your Madame du Pompadour costume!

I still love that sleeping beauty picture. Framing cosplay pictures is a wonderful idea! My friend does a lot of cosplay (and sometimes she'll make a costume for me to tag along) so that's a neat gift idea :)

All the places I'm thinking of are in Montreal or Quebec city, and that's really far away from California. We have many places done up in ancient French decoration styles.

But I wonder if Chateau Lake Louise might have some rooms like that.

in my defense: i only really know Kansas and Virginia, and I'm telling you all the good things about Kansas because it's cheap to fly in and it's cheap to stay!

If you want an outdoor scene, there's Botanica in Wichita Kansas.

http://www.botanica.org/

The Stiefel Theatre in Salina is really gorgeous

http://www.stiefeltheatre.org/

and if you want one of the most beautiful churches I've seen (even IMO better than the National Cathedral):

http://www.stfidelischurch.com/

Cathedral of the Plains.

If you were willing to pay to travel- look into heading over to Newport, Rhode Island. We're famous for our mansions. Take a look, (:

I'm not quite sure- I know that anyone is allowed to take pictures outside of the mansions with no cost, (which are beautiful- Rosecliff Mansion has victorian rose gardens) and you are allowed to venture inside, as long as you fill out the correct application and it has been passed.
