I was really happy to wear kimono today because due to moving twice and too much work, I hadn't had time. It was nice to see my sensei again, I hadn't seen her for months!

I actually woke up this morning and suddenly had a really righteous cold. So I spent the day hopped up on Dayquil. (BOOO) I'm going to spend as much of the rest of today and tomorrow as I can marathoning Doctor Who in my pajamas. CLASSY. <3

Still had a nice day, though. Beautiful weather... it just rained recently so the air is so clear and the sky so beautiful... and the hills have popped green.

I'm wearing this kimono: http://aimeemajor.com/kimono/kimonoblue.jpg
this obi: http://aimeemajor.com/kimono/silverobis.jpg
part of this kanzashi: http://aimeemajor.com/kimono/sakuraapril.jpg

(you guys... AAAH. So happy to wear my kanzashi. I got it in Gion a couple years ago but I hadn't had the chance to wear this part of the set yet. It fills me with glee, it's like a dream. I'm a dork. I bought them in this tiny little shop... and he didn't have the sakura kanzashi out, I had to ask him... and he went in the back and brought out this gorgeous set. I'll never forget. )

Also wearing my okobo (because I can't find my zori since I moved ... ) Shigoki obi (the dangling pink sash) isn't really traditional... but... for some reason I wanted more pink and to play around a little. I'm also wearing my beaded collar to help keep the temperature down, because it may be January, but it's still LA! Please ignore my bangs, I need a haircut. <3

This is me with some of the LA kimono club members.

some more LA Kimono club members,
the lady on the far left, she's so cool. She always has really imaginative coordinates and always has seasonal fancy nails. Today she had a tiger and mnt fuji (and other things) on her nails.

SO CUTE YOU GUYS.

Some of these pretty ladies were competing for the Miss Kimono LA competition, which was for girls over 18 who were unmarried. Lots of beautiful kimono and coordinates! I was helping out with the crowd control a little. Maybe they will do it again next year, some of you guys should come! Maybe I'll dress some of you up and force you to come. lol.

back of the kimono contestants:

the LAPD said "hi!" to us on their helicopter loud speaker!

I got a year of the tiger charm for my celphone

lucky New Year's arrow!
("Hamaya" = arrow which destroys demons!)

I saw Ash, Greg and company and ran into Crisso and Derek. <3

This lady was awesome. If only I could have gotten a picture of her with the chocolate brown Pomeranian that was like 5 feet to her right.

Magic Show! (he was actually really good!)

kitsuke-geek back shot. Not my best fukura suzume obi, but I have a cold, so you guys will forgive me, right? <3

I was there too, but I woke up late and didn't get there till the afternoon. I loved all of the different demonstrations, especially the singing/dancing. I love your kimono, such pretty fabric!!

Man! I wish more KS communities did New Years. I'm sure there's some up in KC and down in Wichita, but not nearly that large. A lot of our festivals are in the spring only. <3

Thanks for sharing the lovely shots! <3

I was so hungover and on zero sleep, I was embarrassed to talk to anyone. You are very tall and very pretty in person!! Your kimono was lovely and you were smiling at everyone! I'll admit, I recognized you and hid. I WAS taken home by my friend about 5 minutes later because I was near-fainting, tho. Or I'm shy. Shhh.
