New Years
2009 Costume Year End Review here
Happy New Year Oiran drawing
Tomorrow I'm going to be in Little Tokyo for Oshogatsu.
I always have these romantic notions of staying up to watch the sunrise on New Years (click to watch on youtube), maybe someday I'll actually do it, but I like sleep too much, and I'd pay too dearly for it this week. But I'll leave this picture here,... and dream of wearing froufrou things with friends and watching the sunrise. We'll do this one day, my friends.

NEW YEARS THOUGHTS ~~~~~~~~~~~~

NEXT YEAR -
Normally I'd say something like do a film or complete one of my books, but... realistically, I'd really just like to do the following:
~~ I'd like to continue getting in better shape
~~ I want to redesign my website
~~ I'd like to continue getting our house and garden in order and dejunk more.
~~ I'd like to make a few costumes on my dream list.
~~ I want to get some epic photoshoots of some costumes I've done, I didn't really do that as much this year.
~~ like to continue doing my own comics to keep learning.
~~ gotta try to be better about spending

How we spent New Years~
Since Mitch's parents are in town, we're going to go out to dinner (sushi) with them and then Mitch and I are going to come home and watch When Harry Met Sally which is a New Year's tradition for us. And we might watch Die Hard 2 (we're working our way through our new BlueRay set I got on sale at FOX)

Things I did in 2009:
Assistant Directed Futurama
bought a house (our second)
did my first yard from scratch with the help of landscapers and Jocelyn
went kayaking for the first time!
attended my first Doctor Who convention!
I animated on the Pink Panther 2 credits
I wore an 80's prom dress and did my hair in a side-ponytail.
I got a kimono-shaped sunburn
I ate tofu and kimchi
I met an edo senke master
I made a clover chain

More things I did in 2009:
I wore a mustache
I made a lot of art. (and that's just the stuff I can show you. I did a crapton of work for an unpublished book and for Futurama.
I saw the Bradbury Bldg
I loved Star Trek again. A LOT
I did a picture for the Darkstalkers Tribute Book
I rocked Comiccon
I dressed up like a Prince for my 30th birthday
I went to the opening of my favorite lolita brand in San Fran
I took a random trip later to SF and explored
I dressed up like a bosozoku
I saw Kabuki for the first time
I did art for Gallifrey One's postcards
I saw the first 2d Disney movie in a long time that I really liked.

------------
Overall, I think I've had a good year and feel stronger and like I'm understanding what's around me better. I'm pretty happy, too. I've gotten to know some people better who I think are really awesome... and anytime I started to feel low or doubt myself my friends have been there to show me the silver lining.
I've challenged myself a lot, and mostly I think I've come out well.
Mitch and I bought a house and I'm having a lot of fun decorating the interior and working on the garden.
Job-wise, I've enjoyed Assistant Directing on Futurama probably more than any other job, or at least it's in my top two. That's saying something! I've learned a LOT this year.

Physically... my knees are a lot better, even though there's occasional pain. I've figured out that if I stretch and exercise more regularly, I have much less trouble with my knees, as long as I don't overdo it.
This year I've thought a lot about how beautiful and short life is and I've rethought a lot of my priorities. I go from feeling a peaceful wonder for the world around me to having this feeling of just wanting to run and run... full of life, like life is an action movie.

```````````` Some songs that feel like this year for me:````````````
GLORIOUS ~ MUSE
Rose-tinted view
And satellites that compromise the truth
But I wanted more
With the cuts and the bruises
Touch my face
A hopeless embrace
I need to believe
But I still want more
With the cuts and the bruises
Don't close the door
On what you adore
Faith, it drives me away
But it turns me on
Like a strangers love
It rockets through the universe
It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse
and we too could be
Glorious
Rainbow Veins - Owl City
High rise, veins of the avenue
Bright eyes and subtle variations of blue
Everywhere is balanced there like a rainbow above you
Street lights glisten on the boulevard
And cold nights make staying alert so hard
For heaven's sake, keep me awake so I won't be caught off guard
Clearly I am a passerby but I'll find a place to stay
Dear pacific day, won't you take me away?
Small town hearts of the New Year
Brought down by gravity, crystal clear
City fog and brave dialogue converge on the frontier
Make haste, I feel your heartbeat
With new taste for speed, out on the street
Find a road to a humble abode where both of our routes meet
The silver sound is all around and the colors fall like snow
The feeling of letting go, I guess we'll never know
Cheer up and dry your damp eyes and tell me when it rains
And I'll blend up that rainbow above you and shoot it through your veins
Cuz your heart has a lack of color and we should've known
That we'd grow up sooner or later cuz we wasted all our free time alone
Your nerves gather with the altitude
Exhale the stress so you don't come unglued
Somewhere there is a happy affair, a ghost of a good mood
Wide eyed, panic on the getaway
The high tide could take me so far away
VCR's and motorcars unite on the Seventh Day
A popular gauge will measure the rage of the new Post-Modern Age
Cuz somewhere along the line all the decades align
We were the crashing whitecaps
On the ocean
And what lovely seaside holiday, away
A palm tree in Christmas lights
My emotion
Struck a sparkling tone like a xylophone
As we spent the day alone
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
Let's go build the tomorrow that will become us. <3
I was crushed by my aspiration and gave up
Without knowing the color of the boundless sky
Because my thoughts that started running
Are certainly knocking on my chest even now
The me today will continue ahead
I’ll go build a tomorrow that’ll become us
The answer, that’s right, is always here
