Kaguya-hime - Dec Arts Day 11

volleygurl2418 suggested I draw Kaguya-hime. (Moon or Bamboo Princess...) It's actually one of my favorite fairy tales,... I have a little Hello Kitty Kaguya-hime keychain and several illustrated fairy books. <3 (you can read the fairytale here) I know usually people draw her in the cut bamboo-stalk... and if I did a series of these, I'm sure I would, but I wanted to draw her in this sort of shape, and older. Somehow hydrangeas seem right, too.
I really have to color this, as her Jūnihitoe (12-layer kimono) just really isn't one without the color. But I'm tired tonight.

OMG, I'm so glad you drew this! ^_^ I'm glad to hear you like it, I had a feeling you might know about it X3 It really is one of my favorite Japanese fairy tales.

The style you drew her face is a little different, but not in a bad way, I like it :D ! It reminds me of your drawings with dolls or mannequins. I can't WAIT to see this colored too!!! *giggle snort*

If you did a series, I would loooove to see how to interpret two scenes: her assigning the tasks to the suitors, and then her returning to the moon (I can't remember the original specifically, but the "feather-robe" part that the wikipedia page describes just throws a million thoughts into my head!)
