House Update Photos

We've been living out of boxes for over 6 months, but I'm finally getting stuff looking homey, so I wanted to show you guys! (My master bedroom is a total disaster... but can't do everything at once!) Thanks again, before for the advice on paint colors and design blogs to look at. I've enjoyed it!

You have to understand that I'd never thought that I could afford a house like this. (I'm still kinda O_O about it. It's way bigger than the last place we lived.) But the combination of recent low interest rates, rebates, moving farther out and various other factors really helped us out. I dejunked before we moved, and then again when we moved again... but I'll probably be cutting back further after things get a bit more settled.

~~~~~ SEWING ROOM ~~~~~
aggggh, I'm so happy to have this room. I know most people aren't able to have a room to put their crap in, I feel really lucky to have it, seriously. It makes me sigh with happiness when I walk into it, even though I have a lot left to do. But... I think part of the fun will be waiting for the perfect things, and saving up for things, etc. I wish I could show you how pretty the blue paint is. It's a bit more like this photo directly below than the other photos. And actually, that little dayplanner was my inspiration for the room color. Because I loved how the pinks in it looked with the blue plate, and I have a lot of pink things. I was also inspired by THIS Marie Antoinette collage.
The wall color is Valspar "Fountain Mist".


The room started out blank, and before we moved in, I had it painted:


The rose ornaments you see hanging above the doorway and the window are from http://crown-molding.com , the Homco mirror/shelf is off ebay, the Paris glitter sign is from Paris1900 inspired by the one that Alix bought. Lace panel curtains are from Lowe's. Glass cases and large white cube shelves are from Ikea. (I'd like to replace the black glass cases with something white eventually...) Sofa is a handmedown sadly partially destroyed by Youta. (eventually it will be replaced with something white or pink. <3 ) I still need a coffee table to sew on. May just use one of the old tv stands temporarily.

White tree is from Gene Marshall's collection (from when I used to collect them... I don't think I have any anymore, but I kept the tree). OTT Light from Joann's. Pink stuffed Tako-san is a gift from Sonia.

long mirror was on sale but gold, so I repainted it. White frames are from Marshall's and Target. White scallop shelves are from Target. All parasols, Baby the Stars Shine Bright. The framed corkboard will be for inspirational pics while I'm working on a particular project.
Behind the open door there is a thread rack.


My incomplete CLAMP chess set (which I bought while in Tokyo) is on the shelves. The photos are ones that Kyle took of AJ and I in our Rose of Versailles costumes... which are very dear to me and fit in with the psuedo-rococo decor. The one postcard in the oval frame is Imai Kira. I really want to frame some more of the Angelic Pretty postcards I have,... but later.

These cubes are filled mainly with lace, cute print fabrics, resin/mold-making materials, trim, patterns and beads, etc... Specific costume fabrics (ie hoarded fabrics for a supposed future costume) are elsewhere. I've actually purged a lot of my random non-cute-print fabrics and only kept stuff I'd really think I'd use. I need to repurge this stuff though, and get rid of the cardboard boxes,... and get more of those blue cubes from Ikea. I also want to replace the green and red boxes with pink or white ones.

Inside the closet is some of my Super Dollfie clothes and wigs, some bolts of fabric (for 18th century mainly) and another dresser full of paint and resin-mold-making stuff. There's also another thread rack in the closet and an over-the-door-fold-up ironing board.


The best thing about this room is that there's a little alcove which is EXACTLY the right size for an animation desk. This allows me to have a nice private place to draw/work.
You can see some of the clutter here that's yet to be cleared out, but it's serviceable.


Please note the Belle sitting at the fountain with the sheep... framed picture as you enter. <3 Disney's Beauty and the Beast is the reason that I got into animation as a career. (And the fairy tale itself is my favorite fairy tale.) My husband, Mitch owned this picture before we even started dating.


The animation tower is from the late Fox studios in Arizona. It's awesome and all the shelves are specially designed for 16-field paper and the way we work.
The animation desk itself (with the disk) is a portable one from Cartoon Colour, so that I'd have more flexibility if my situation changes, and I can put it on any table height. Next to it you can see my set of COPIC markers. I still need to mount my cork boards and get a chair.


~~~~~ GUEST ROOM ~~~~~

My inspiration for the guest room was this room (click for picture), though mine is simpler, and like the sewing room, it's not really done yet. I still need to get floor length curtains, make some red and yellow pillows (that'll be fun! :D!) a black curtain rod, some sort of rug, some sort of sidetable. I can look for those gradually.

I seriously considered hand painting a whole wall with sakura like in my inspiration pic,... but... I figured a wall cling was much less work, and if I change my mind later I won't have to repaint the whole room or something. I will probably do a painting in the dining room though.

The mirror is from Lowe's. The sakura wall cling is from blankcanvasdesigns. The screen is, I think, from Cost Plus, several years ago. Red and tan tall cd shelf is from Ikea, I've had it since college. The trundle bed is a HEMNES from ikea. (mattresses not from Ikea.)

Below is with the trundle closed (twin). You can put stuff in the drawers!One of the drawers isn't done because ikea shorted us on screws. Ah well.


When you pull the trundle out, it kinda-sorta becomes a king.


The red dresser was a gift from my mom when Mitch and I got married and bought our first house. It was from The Great Indoors. The lightup sakura branch is from Delias I think.

Hope you enjoyed looking! I've had a lot of fun working on it. It was nice to have days off this week where I could clean up. AJ and Marcus will get here soon and I actually have a place other than my living room for them to stay! What a nice feeling! aaaah, so grateful! And my family is coming next month, too.
