EDIT: Decided to use a wide matte and larger frame on the Avenue of Cherries. I think it'll be fine. :)

I bought this when I went to see Andi in DC a while back,... and I LOVE it. But it's not quite big enough for the space I'd love to put it in.
Does anyone have ANY idea where I could get this print bigger or somehow make it bigger? I tried emailing the Freer and Sackler Gallery, but got no response. Haven't been able to find it online... The print is: Avenue of Cherry Trees by Yoshida Hiroshi (1876-1950). Japan, Showa era, 1935. I'd be open to other prints by Yoshida Hiroshi or Kawase Hasui... but I need a horizontal orientation and some red accents in the picture. I'd prefer something with sakura but stuff like this is cool too... or this Spring at Hot Spring... but I can't pay $2000 for "real print". :\ I need to find some gallery that sells posters of the stuff I like. It seems like most galleries online that sell posters, only sell the same 5 woodblock prints. On a side note, I really need to go see the Hasui exhibit at LACMA. If I can't find a bigger version or something comparable (of Ave of Cherries) then I think I may just frame Ave of the Cherries with a wide matte, and perhaps put some smaller stuff around it to fill the space better.

in the meantime, here's a picture of my very much still in progress sewing/animation room. It's hard to tell because of the light, but the paint color is much bluer in person. Kindof a fresh blue. I'll take more photos later after I get more work done on it. I need to put up more photos, clean up... fix the curtains, put up the ornamental accents... etc... Eventually I'd like to have a froufrou white or pink sofa in here, and I need a table, but for now, this'll do.

........... ROSES................
I can't stand it! I sent the landscape drawing in to the HOA on Monday, but I have -no- idea when they're going to get back to me. Especially with the holiday. I'm not sure how long I can contain myself before I start stalking calling them. I can't imagine that they wouldn't approve it, it's not anything outlandish and I used a good amount of xeric plants. The landscaper is all ready to start and said I could order roses already,.. but... I don't feel comfortable ordering them until I get HOA approval.

my final backyard candidates (though probably a few will be illiminated):
Compte de Chambord rose
Belle Storey rose (cl)
Tiffany Hybrid Tea rose I had this rose as a child and love it. (It's very sturdy, too, and smells great.)
Autumn Damask (a really old variety, perhaps Marie Antoinette had one at the Petit Trianon?)
Grandmother's Hat
Reine des Violettes
Sydonie
Glendora
Andenken an Alma de l'Aigle Hybrid Musk
(the following would ship Jan/Feb)
William Shakespeare 2000 rose (strong scent, gorgeous color)
Jude the Obscure rose (strong scent, gorgeous color)
cl. Eden rose - ADORE this.

Lovely roses!

Sooo jealous of your sewing room. I love my cozy house, but another 2 bedrooms (1 for MY stuffage) would be "ideal".

Has someone sent you to http://www.helpmefind.com/roses yet? Great website for Rose lovers!

I am starting a new bed in the backyard next year but considering I already have 23 roses I think I'm going to research other shrubs to fill my one new large-ish spot.

You don't know me but I have to tell you that you've been such an inspiration for me for a long long time now! I guess I check your site and your beautiful drawings since I'm 16! (and I'm 21 now...), and I learnt so much watching your style (for exemple, how to draw nice curly princess hair! ^^) that I felt like letting you know... I have my own blog for my drawings now, and that would so cool to know you saw some of my drawings... http://maydmayd.blogspot.com/

by the way, I'm French, you should come over here to see Versailles, you sure would love it ;)

As for your print, you could go as many as 3different colored mats and then a frame to enlarge it. I'd keep the mats to a muted color, nothing too bright so they don't overpower the piece itself. And go with a simple, minimilistic frame as well. Hope that helps a little! Working in an art gallery has its benefits! :)
