New Moon House Warming Party

I figured that by now, I'd have the house at least partially deboxed, so I planned to have a smallish housewarming party when New Moon and Doctor Who Waters of Mars came out. I still kinda had stuff strewn everywhere upstairs (aaah, embarrassing!) but the downstairs was pretty good! :) I'm looking forward to being able to have people over again sometime soon. I'm so happy that I have more room now for people to come over.

Michelle, Will, Truemee, Alcuin, Ali, Jenny and Crisso came over to watch Twilight, eat some foods and bedazzle shirts. ( I <3 you guys!)

I got some fun ideas from this Twilight themed party. I printed out a few quotes and put them in frames I already had,... and I got out some of my red and clear fall/christmas decorations. And got some mini red apples and red beads and put them in wine glasses and hurricane glasses.

I also printed out some of the drink labels and put them on various fruit juices. And then we also had red sodas and drinks. You don't have to soak the labels off btw before you put these on. Just print them on paper and tape them on.

We made these drinks (and they were pretty good!):
The Vampire
• 1 ounce Vodka
• 1 ounce Chambord
• 1 ounce lime juice
• 1 ounce cranberry juice
Put all ingredients in a ice cube filled shaker, mix, pour in glass, and enjoy!

Vampire Kiss Martini
• 1 1/2 oz Finlandia Vodka
• 1 1/2 oz Korbel Champagne
• 3/4 oz Chambord
• red sugar for rimming (we didn't bother)

I also added some red foodcoloring to melted butter to put over popcorn as "blood" (ew! congealed red butter! lol!)

and made some red jello with blackberries in it... which would have looked all cool like the Gothic and Lolita Bible... but, I kinda ran out of time and also, can't find all my wine glasses (did we break them all? I don't know!)

Also bought some sheet cake from Trader Joes (already cut into rectangles, so I just cut off the corners and failed at using powdered sugar. lol) Based on these tiramisu ones from the GLB. haha, and then we forgot to eat them. (I'll take them to work today. hEEEE)

I was GOING to get mushroom ravioli, but none of the grocery stores had it. Turns out that was good cause I forgot that Trumee is alergic. So we had cheese and beef raviolis and random pumpkin waffles and guacamole,... and of course random twilight sweethearts and crap like that. haha.

Then Crisso, Ali and I had to skip out to go to New Moon. I should have planned to see a later showing or started the party sooner (sorry guys!)
But despite the line outside (O_O) we got in and didn't sit in the absolute front! Amusingly, Crisso was sitting next to a little boy. When Jacob (the indian werewolf) took off his shirt for the first time, all the women in the theater squealed. The little boy asked his mom, "Why are they screaming, Mommie?" "Because in the last movie, Jacob was all skinny, and now he's strong, so we're all really proud of him!" HA HA HA WHAT? XD


Perhaps one of my favorite scenes was Edward walking out into the sun with no shirt on... and he's totally got his pants hanging low, and then they cut the scene in such a way that you can't even tell he has pants on. While sparkling, people. WHO SHOT THIS MOVIE? (you can get a basic idea of what I'm talking about here... though this isn't really a shot from the movie)
I must say, the sparkles looked much better this time around though. Last time they looked like Edward was sweating rainbows, it was rather gross actually. Now he kinda glitters, which is better. haha. Also, there's a pretty rad vampire fight at one point, and they have a few glints of sunlight on them while they're fighting. That was pretty cool actually.
Some parts of the movie didn't suck. But... basically trying to fit all that angst into a movie length was a bit difficult and I think parts of it came off feeling forced. It also felt like... "Really, Bella? Really? You scream bloody murder in your sleep just because your ONE TWUUUU WUUUV (of 3 months perhaps) left you? REALLY?"
I think that COULD have worked, but only if we'd had more time to build it up. Anyway, whatever, it's a very silly whole thing anyway. Crisso and Ali said it was "better" than the first one, but I'm not sure that's saying much.

It was cool! Though the Aurora pink tasted horrible. I used Snow White silver on the Edward cookies because it was just clear with silver sparkles. It never came out in film but it looked cool in person.
