TODAY'S TEA: Harney & Sons - Caribe (Re: Jocelyn)

(awww they took the star trek blooper reel down! good thing I grabbed this icon first. <3 )

Anyway,... it's that time of year again. You'd think I'd really LOVE Halloween because I love costumes and I love werewolves and vampires and slightly creepy folklore things...

but not-so-secretly, I'm a PANSY and really don't like Halloween.
- I have a overactive imagination
- zombies are gross.
- I don't like watching horror movies (really really don't want that in my head, thanks)
- just watching a horror movie COMMERCIAL bothers me
- NIGHTMARES
- don't like all the super gross corpse decorations everywhere

but, whatever! Mitch said it might rain today, so I'm taking my parasol to work with me! kekeke!

I totally hear ya. I love Halloween -- the pumpkins, bats, and scarecrows parts.

Not so much the corpses, eyeballs, and zombies. /: Horror movies -- even the funny ones -- give me nightmares. Bleah.

*joins your club*

I don't get the fascination either. The only reason I ever liked Halloween was the free candy and the chance to dress up. -_-

Your icon is made of win. That was my favorite moment of the gag reel.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN. :3 But then... I'm goth...

Although honestly? I'm not much for gore OR horror in its modern genre. The problem is not really the nightmares so much as I find a lot of horror just STUPID -- gross, not scary. (Like The Ring... it was two hours of "hey, let's film everything creepy-gross ever, like dead horses, whee! ON A HAUNTED VHS, SCARY.") I actually think being NOT superstitious makes me not enjoy horror... it just comes off as dumb.

(I like some of the action-y crossover stuff, like Ginger Snaps and whatnot, just not the "NIGHT OF THE HOUSE OF LIVING CORPSES DEAD TIMES OOOOOO NIGHTMARES.")

Of course I love witches and anything Addams Family-esque. (Or rather, The Munsters! <3)

But really, until I started hanging out with other subculturey people (who did love horror), Halloween only seemed like CANDY and DRESSING UP LIKE SHE-RA or a pony or something. So it could be Sexy Vampire Girls OR a bunch of adorable kids in costumes begging for candy... Just go to the PG-rated parties and you'll be fine! ;)

I don't mind supernatural horror movies with things like monsters or ghosts, but I hate HATE the torture porn movies like Saw that come out around this time every year. Even the trailers make me feel ill.

zombies are freaky, that is why you shoot them and run away.

I am not so much into the gore films as the really suspenseful ones. Heck I'll take a little gore in order to further a good story. ALIEN is a classic for that and so is John Carpenter's The Thing.

But I think "The Monster Squad" might be more your speed and it is funny too. :p Almost like the Goonies.

Zack is our favorite Pittsburgher!

i feel you. i like vampires and bats all things macabre etc etc. but i think more so because they're associated with goth imagery. i really don't like zombies or horror films either.. mainly because i hate when things jump out at me. my first reaction is to scream, second reaction is to kick the person closest to me.

with that said, it hasnt rained on the west side yet :( so sad.
i love the rain! i've been waiting all night for it..nothing. I AM SO DISAPPOINT.

yeah, I like the gothic and I like the suspense... ... I don't like the gore-y or the horror.

hahah, I totally punch people, too.

It rained up in Canyon Country, and then less so as I got into Glendale,... so maybe it will move south?

I love Halloween. My boyfriend's Mom loves pumpkins and we usually carve around 120 jack-o-lanterns for her front yard. Thanks to the cinnamon that we sprinkle in the lids it smells absolutely amazing.

I can't stand American horror films but I love J-Horror. I'm paranoid about ghosties and beasties for a long time afterward, though. ^_^;

I like clever zombie movies. I went through a phase in college watching a ton of zombie movies with friends, but I'd have to close my eyes. Not because I was scared, but because I'd actually get physically sick from the gore. If you haven't seen "Shaun of the Dead", I'd recommend that one. My dad doesn't like zombie movies, but he absolutely loves that film. And "Zombieland" was pretty rockin'. I like scary movies with suspense rather than the slash-and-hack ones.

I'm slightly depressed because I'll be at a Doctor Who con for Halloween and I have no show-related costume. ;___; My plans for a gas mask victim have backfired. SADNESS.

I feel the same. Me no likey zombies, gore and guts. But the cutesy stuff, like Hello Kitty dressed like a witch, I can deal with that. Oh and free candy.

My version of Halloween is actually entirely horror-movie- and zombie- and corpse-decoration-free, haha. I mean, except what I encounter in Spirit or whatever. I like elaborate Victorian decorations, pumpkins, cats, swirly things, black glitter, ghosts, whispers, leaves, fog ... a little bit elegant, a little bit ancestral. I do not like the crass tacky gross version that's been popular recently. Not one bit!

I'm with ya on the cute! Retailers seem to be aware that not everyone is into horror, at least. I got some awesome Hello Kitty skeleton stickers at Target. :P
