London Day 1 Christmas Eve/Day
Jan. 5th, 2009 07:35 pm
Christmas Eve,
On the way to work:

Gertie, one of the director's dogs. She likes being Santa! She's such a happy dog.

Flew out of LA in the evening:

Made it to London on Christmas morning
ZOMG. irregularly shaped fields!

We got settled in our BnB near Victoria Sta, took a shower, changed and then headed to the Ritz by way of Buckingham Palace. I love initials.

The first of many cupids on our trip. LOVE LOVE.

I love the lion/unicorn heraldry on everything. Mitch is really interested in heraldry actually.

The weather was pretty fabulous... and it held for our trip. Never rained, and was sunny a lot of days. Very cold, though.

We strolled through Green Park with the bare trees playing against the sky.
Then to the Ritz for high tea. The Ritz was was a profusion of gold, pink and red. WONDERFUL. Yummy yummy (and the tea was all you could drink/eat, which was great cause nothing is friggin open on Christmas Day and this would be all we'd eat!) I couldn't take pictures of our tea, but you know. :)

Where we actually had tea.
We had the best macaron I've ever had... it was raspberry cookie part, with white chocolate filling and a slice of milk chocolate in it, too. Also, really great egg salad sandwich (one of my faves.) We both Royal tea and Ceylon.

The ladies loo. XD

Outside the Ritz:

We walked the other way around Green Park and through Wellington Arch, which was pretty amazing. Boudicca at the top was pretty imposing. I'd be scared of her.
While I was staring at her at the top of the arch, I backed into some horse poop. awesome! Just like home! (Charleston).
We aimed to save money on our hotel, so we stayed in a pretty tiny room, but really, we spent 90% of our awake time being tourists, so it was fine.
We went back to our room to watch the Christmas Doctor Who special and then went to bed early. :)
I was pretty nerdily excited to see the special on an actual TV in London, the day it aired. I punched Mitch when the logo came on and the Doctor came out of the TARDIS. LOL.
Loved Miss Hartigan's red dress (stunning!).
