hey, my modded Steampunk Nerf gun got featured on DA! cool!

It is kinda amusing to me though that I work very hard on other things created from scratch... a toy I repainted on a lark gets featured. haha... doesn't matter, it's cool. :D

"The suggester wrote, "Nerf Maverick Steampunk Mod by ~aimeekitty is one of the most impressive customizations I have ever seen, and certainly the most astounding modification of a Nerf gun that I have ever laid eyes on. The gorgeous colors that call to mind the fantastic nature of the genre, the realistic tarnish and battle damage effects, the additions of bulk that look like they were always meant to be there; all of these are flawlessly executed to create a practically seamless piece that is stunning to behold.""

aw geee. :D

moving on though...
I'm trying to decide what to work on next, actually. This past week I've just been trying to focus on getting back to my work schedule and trying to clean the house a little.
I've got fabric for a few casual skirts and such...
I've got my Madame de Pompadour (Doctor Who) fabric sitting around... (I'm still not sure if I want to try draping my own ala demode,... or whether I just want to use the JPRyan pattern again... I was pretty happy with it...)
and I still need to finish Vampire Hunter D... (gah...)
and then I still want to do that comic of orangecrushed's...

I'll need to start repacking some stuff soon since we'll be moving again mid-oct... but there aren't really any conventions until spring! (I MADE IT THROUGH CON SEASON! SWEET!)

Just out of curiosity, have you thought about making more short films on your spare time?

And that gun mod looks badass 8)

sure, I'd love to, but the amount of time required to make a short film is huge compared to the amount required to do a single art, or a comic, or a costume. It's unlikely that I'll do one anytime soon, although I have ideas for several.

ideally,... I'd need to have about 3 -5 months of not working, and not having any other obligations to do one. (that would be if I'd already storyboarded it, etc...)

Yeah it really does take a lot of time.
I'm doing my first personal film right now! Did a group film last year. I hope to do more after I graduate though I know time will be an issue but maybe I can find a way to work around it 8)
I really wish my school did a film every year like at Calarts. I visited the school earlier this year, really cool!

I saw A Monkey's Tale last year which you animated on; verrry nice! :D

yeah, I think most people think during college that they'd like to keep making short films and that they will... but it's often just not really feasible. You can't really expect yourself to work 8-10 hours drawing and then come home and animate for 3 more hours. I'd still like to do it, but I have too much going on right now.

Thanks! Eric did an awesome job on that short. most of it is his.

I totally understand. Even during the summer when I was doing a co-op/internship it was difficult to work on my story idea for this school year. Although I know one guy who animated a whole new film while working, and it's not bad at all 8) 2 of my grad friends are actually out of work right now, so they're planning on making a film together for a portfolio piece.

There are actually quite a few grads from the past two years that are having trouble finding work :/
