The fake clean house

So after taking out roughly a 10 by 10 storage unit full of STUFF out of my house... selling a bunch of stuff here and on ebay and giving stuff to Goodwill....
this is what it looks like! (basically all that is left is what I can get by with for the next 6 months... )
I'm pretty proud of all the work I did though! It was pretty messy and cluttered before. There's not that much in the garage, either! (SHOCK!)
I think in our next home, I'd like to push the look a little bit more British Colonial / Explorer for fun, since a lot of our stuff already suits that style.
our bedroom
the comforter is one my mom made me in college. The print is kinda psuedo-asian/tropical.
The tan bird screen on the wall is one that belonged to my beloved Mommy Vi, it's the one thing I requested after her death. It has a not-very-noticable golfball-hole in it. Her house for my entire memory was on the corner of a golfcourse. The hole makes me love it even more.
The Chinese chest on top of the dresser was one that Mitch and I got on our honeymoon. It's brothers are in the living room. The bed and dresser are ones we got when we got married and the sidetables have been Mitch's forever.
The haori (click for closeup) above the bed fits Mitch, though I really bought it specifically for this purpose. The image is of a woman reading a letter from her traveling husband supposedly. Also I like the colors in it.

my beloved tansu that Mitch got me for our anniversary a while back. It's stuffed with this season's kimono and obi. On the closet door are my most recently worn kimono. They're hanging out for a bit before I put them back up. Under the bed are my summer kimono. I'll switch them out in about a month or so.
On the wall shelves are all my cheapy plastic cute jewelry stuffed in boxes to hide them... (sigh) and a very few manga and books I couldn't pack up. Some of which being a few volumes of MARS, Phantom and Beauty.

Our Living Room:
again, you can see the other two Chinese chests. I love that they have a variety of wood colors in them, I think it really helps tie our disparate furniture pieces together. The small chest on top of them holds my wedding photos/keepsakes. Next to it is my ponderous collection of COPIC markers.
Sofa and matching chair and coffee table are from Mitch's parents. The large bookshelf behind it is from IKEA. Draped over the top of the shelf is a very old maru obi which was also owned by my Mommy Vi.
On the shelves you'll see what collectibles I couldn't bare to pack up... some of which :(from top left) a stuffed penguin from Dylan, a Belle from Beauty and the Beast statue, my remote TARDIS (with the Doctor), some awards from cosplaying with HCC, my pink gloomy bear. (there's also a San from Princess Mononoke on top of the shelf)
The remaining books are almost exclusively fashion/sewing, Japan or storyboard/scripting related.
The facing wall (NOT SHOWN) is covered in a large bookshelf which holds my collection of children's books, my 3/4 tapes of my films from college and our not-really-that-massive DVD collection.
the mantle has some photos of me with my family and HCC girlfriends.
on top of the china cabinet you can see TAKO-SAN (red octopus seat) which was a gift from AJ. I adore him and he's also coming with me to my booth at comic-con, so you see, really, he can't be packed up.
past the china cabinet you can see where our computers have taken the place of a traditional dining room.
