kimono and Sit Down, Shut Up wrapup

Today is my last day at Rough Draft Studios for a bit, since we're at season-end!
Just as a catch-up for ya'll, I've been working as Assistant Director on two episodes of "Sit Down, Shut Up", which is a new show that will be airing on FOX in April. (Once I find out my specific air dates, I'll let you know).
It's by the creators of "Arrested Development". It's a really quirky, funny show which has the interesting twist of being hand-drawn animation on top of photographic "real" backgrounds. So anytime we went somewhere in the world of the show, we had to find a real-life place that we could photograph for the backgrounds! I'm really looking forward to seeing people's reactions to some of the funny stuff in the show. (Mind, it's not a kid's show!)

I'm going to use my time off to finish up my book (hopefully I can show you some from it soon!)
...and hopefully just rest up a bit. It's been a crazy few months!

another from Jason!

Lord, the photography and the kimono are just SO beautiful. @D@

Can I ask you how long it takes you on average to fully get into your kimono? Do you need someone to help you or do you have one of those cool things that helps you tie to obi yourself?

yaaay thanks! For yukata, probably about 15-30 min, a more formal kimono like this, more like 40-60 min...? I don't know. This was my first time wearing in a while, so it's hard to remember how long it normally takes.

This kimono and obi combination that I'm wearing, it's :
- kimono underwear and padding
- under kimono (with the white collar)
- kimono
- nagoya obi in otaiko bow

this sort of obi bow, it's what women wear the most often from casual to formal occasions and probably consequently, it's not that hard to do. I can do it on my own without help and without any sort of "obi aid" type thing. After you learn the yukata bow (which is easiest) you then learn this bow. It's basically, you wrap around your waist, tie a knot, and then fold the taiko shape. (basically.)

for furisode with a fancy bow like this, it's impossible for me to do the bow on my back without help or an obi aid. I can do it with an obi aid though (ie you do most of the bow on the ground on the base-aid device, and then you put it on your back.

I haven't heard of that show yet, it looks interesting. And hey, Kristen Chenoweth is in it too? At least she got a good job after Pushing Daisies. Can't wait to see it!

Also, you're kimono is so beautiful. :D

Assistant Director?! KICKASS! :D Go you! As much as I love Macfarlane's work, I'm so stoked to see some new animation in the Fox line-up. :) I hope you had fun!

I can't wait to see that show! My uncle told me about it a while ago, he's bought it for Canadian television. I don't really remember which station; I think CTV perhaps. I'll have to have him remind me so I can keep an eye out for it :)!

You always look so pretty in your kimono pics.
