TODAY'S TEA: Darjeeling #22 X Cream

.。.:*・° I miss Tokyo. *_*
Spring always makes me want to go to Japan. Also really want to go back to London and go to Paris and go to Italy,... and and... but yeah, mostly missing Tokyo. Lately, there's a lot of brands I'd love to try on their stuff (like BTSSB AP men's jackets and Atelier Boz vests and jackets),... plus it's just the whole feeling of being there, particularly in such a nice time of year. I wish I could go to Jiyugaoka Sweets Forest RIGHT NOW.

LET'S DANDYTIME
It'd be nice if I could bring Mitch to some of the balls/costume parties I go to.
I'd love to get him some kind of dandy/victorian/ega coat.

suggestions on places that carry sizes big enough for Mitch that:
(a) don't look too hot-topic-gothy
(b) don't look too frilly

so basically, no vinyl, no lacey-lace, no lacing, no buckles. Mitch is a little over 6 feet and has broad shoulders and a relatively narrow waist. Mitch looks great in well tailored suits, so something along those lines, but with a bit more gothic or victorian flair would be fa---bu-lous. I'd prefer not to go too historical, either.

There is Gentleman's Emporium which is more or less authentic repros. I don't have personal experience with them but others I know (steampunks) have bought from them and felt the quality was extremely good.

their stuff looks nice, but I think it's a bit too much on the historical side for what I need. I think the jackets would be a bit too boxy on him.

Yeah, I think the people I know who get that stuff use it as a base for their more steampunkish looks. They still tend more toward historical though.

There's some discussion about Shrine here -- I have found their coats to be beautifully-made, if that's what you're thinking of. [livejournal.com profile] cavalorn got married in a Shrine coat, and still wears it out to Whitby four years later :)

I really, really love their coats -- trying to think, are you anywhere near their retail store so that you could check out the fit/fabric?

But, yeah -- I love Shrine coats and wish they made more women's styles -- I would love a frock coat, but by the time it would fit me in the chest, it'd be too big in the waist. Booooo.

If Mitch gets a Shrine coat, TAKE PICTURES!!!! :D

hahaha, I'm RETARDED. yes. I live very close to there! I'll make mitch go. XD VICTORY!

I agree, some of their military/frock inspired coats would be great for women if they made them more tailored for us!

I had one item from them, a velvet coat with a red satin lining, and it WAS lovely -- I think it belongs to [livejournal.com profile] jola now ^_^

BTW, for the cute factor -- Lucy and Cav at their wedding:

Yeah I'm really missing spring in foreign countries this year too :-/ Haven't gone travelling in about 2-3 years now and I loved both Japan and the UK in the spring.

I'm not sure what a good in between for Mitch would be other than something maybe like a longer frock coat?

They have some lovely tailcoats in the gothic lolita section, and as a bonus you can get them specially tailored for free!

Can I suggest Apatico? http://www.apatico.net/

Last spring I bought a fabulous custom jacket (not just custom fit, a full-on custom jacket) for $175. It fit perfectly, and I love it. Not only that, but she only took like two weeks.

If you do go with her, I'd do it soon. Her work is being featured in Dances of Vice this spring, and could get pretty dang buisy.

Have you seen Apatico? She does mens and womens fashion. Her webpage http://www.apatico.net doesnt have a shop up yet, per se, but just email her for a custom order. I got a custom jacket (not just custom fit, but custom design) from her for $175 last spring. It love it! it fits perfectly! And she uses really good quality materials.

Only, you might want to contact her soonish. Her work was being featured at Dances of Vice this year, so she may get buisy.

I did, but there's only one example of a jacket that's kindof what I'm looking for, so it's a bit hard.
It looks like she's putting up more stuff in APRIL, but as you said, she'll probably get more orders by then.

well, i know she has more pictures than that! I'd sugest emailing her, describing what your looking for, and asking for more pictures. She's a local around here, so i know that she has them! Shes just not great with web stuff.

Jiyugaoka sounds interested, I must make a visit there X3 Also going to Roppongi for ladies nite/ dress up/ cocktails. Hmmm I don't know what else to do, but my friends have been living in Japan for about 3 years.. I believe nomikai and karaoke will be due hehehe.
