Ohanami #2 (Kimono Club)

Look at all the stuff it takes to wear kimono! (and this isn't even counting the socks, shoes and kimono itself. haha.) I felt a little intimidated this morning when I set it all out since I hadn't worn kimono in months. My sensei said I did a good job though! I only forgot which layer in the back to put the obijime on, so she fixed that. I'm not too happy with my collar, but that's ok. My ohashori was pretty good, and that's the part that bugs me the most if it's bad.

I tried ume garlic cloves for the first time today, apparently they're good for your health. (but oh! what a strong taste!)

Here's me with my sensei. Isn't her teal kimono gorgeous? She had matching teal shoes, too.




There was a remote control boat club meeting there today, too.
After sitting and chatting with the kimono club for a while I headed back over to Jason's and Annie's groups and hung out. (Sorry! I didn't really take many photos today)

You and your sensei look lovely, Aimee, and it looks like it was a beautiful day.

I only have the opportunity to wear kimono a couple of times a year now too, so it's always intimidating trying to remember all the steps again. I usually forget which of the two wide bands -- see, I can't even remember the name^^; -- goes over the juban and which goes over the kimono under the obi.

I know what you mean!

but those bands, it doesn't matter too much. I usually use the hardest gripping one on the outer kimon, cause I'm always worried about moving with it.
