I love cherryblssomgirl's dreamy self-photo posts! I wish I could figure out how to do self-photoshoots in a field with a tripod and a timer. I like going places by myself. I'd love to find some more beautiful places to go, too. Like, I'd love to find some castle-y ruins or some really lovely cliffs. I'm sure that sort of thing must be within 3 hours of me (LA). sides, ya'll totally want to see photos me making a fool of myself doing the Sound of Music/Belle running through the field thing at Huntington Gardens, AM I RIGHT?
in lieu of dinner last night, I ate Girl Scout Cookies and drank wine and listened to FLEET FOXES, which is a quite fabulous way to spend an evening. Trying to take it easy. <3
also, I pretended to be a certain black butler. (translation: did a test run for my Kuroshitsuji cosplay.) I felt a bit like a sham host club guy, but Mitch said I looked like Burgess Meredith, which I can't quite figure out if I'm happy about or not. Ha ha...
when I'm done with my book, you know, after I sleep for 3 weeks and clean the house, and....and... ---- I want to do a one-shot comic or two! I have a couple potential source materials in mind... and I'm already obsessing and thinking about shots I want to use for one of them!

Date: 2009-03-06 06:23 pm (UTC)I don't think there are any ruined castles 3 hours from LA, but I can help you with some spectacular cliffs:

El Matador State Beach is one of the few places that is as pretty in real life as in pictures.

Date: 2009-03-06 06:56 pm (UTC)yeah, it seems like it would take some practice to learn how to frame the shot when nothing else is in it! and then getting yourself into the right spot! haha. I should take a pole around with me that's 6 feet tall so I can put it in the shot instead of me.

You would look gorgeous in a photo shoot among the ruins, especially in autumn. I bet you can find something like this closer to home!

Date: 2009-03-06 08:38 pm (UTC)It's like:
-fiddle with camera settings, fiddle, fiddle
-*click*
-RUNRUNRUN to get into position!
-STOP. Quickly get into desired pose. Try to look cool for like, a second.
-runrunrun back to the camera, see if I got the shot the way I want
-repeat.
Sometimes I would position a mirror by the camera, to help my composition.
Your butler cosplay looks really cool! I totally want that ensemble now.
