yeaaaay clouds and cold weather!

I'm really enjoying the sudden coldsnap and rain! from 46 or 56 degrees F probably isn't that cold for most of you... but most of the time in LA it's like 80 degrees, so I'm really greatful for the cold turn! :)

IRL yesterday:
This Diesel jacket is the one that Rose wears in the Doctor Who episode "Christmas Invasion" (the first David Tennant episode!... it also shows up in "Love and Monsters"). I love it. it's got rad pockets and a great fit. The scarf (Target) and fingerless gloves look a lot like the ones she wears in "Boomtown" (screencap)


On my way to work, 8 am




For my lunch break, I zipped downtown to the LA fabric district. I had just enough time to grab what I needed before it started raining(!) again. Mitch and I had lunch at the Curry House.


The building in the middle... the neat one? That's the Daily Planet Building! (It's actually City Hall). I love how the clouds are behind it and the subtle color.


Here's the fabric I got! $8 a yard of changeable silk taffeta and a $5 remnant of silk. (thanks for the advice, Judy!) They're for my Lia costume. You can see the drawing above sitting next to the fabric, and my Sanrio pink and white dot My Melody purse next to that. :) I had to work late to make up for the fabric run, but that's fine!

man~ I always loved that coat. Rose has some great clothes. I'm enjoying the cold snap, but I'm going home to STL next week and we're supposed to have snow! o.o;;

Ahaha, I live in Savannah, GA, and when it gets chilly enough to wear my Yoite trench/Yoite hat, I get SUPREMELY EXCITED.

Ahhh, your Lia gown looks so beautiful! I really need to finish that series, gah...

I get excited whenever we have "cold" weather too (i live by Houston)! I love dressing for it, layers are my friend. :) But winter weather here is so bipolar. Last Wednesday we had snow flurries, and then it was in the 70s again by the weekend. Crazy!

I was walking outside half an hour ago and I could see my breath. I was wearing two shirts and a leather jacket, and I was still cold. It's definitley Rose Tyler jacket weather. At least.

Speaking of Rose Tyler, do you watch Life On Mars? In the US version, they named the main dude's mom Rose Tyler.

I saw an interview with one of the creators of the BBC Life On Mars (which is very good, btw, I recommend it. Even though the Master is the hero of the show. The lead character's name was Sam Tyler. He was originally going to have a different surname, but they decided to change it, and he asked his son for a suggestion. The kid was a big Doctor Who fan, and (unbeknownst to his father) suggested Tyler because of Rose Tyler.

Of course, on the BBC Life On Mars, the name of Sam Tyler's mum isn't Rose, because Dr. Who is like the biggest show on TV and that would be a bit too obvious. Her name is Ruth. but I guess they decided to run with the character's Whovian roots when they imported the show to the US, since there aren't that many Who viewers here. So the US Life On Mars Sam Tyler is the son of Rose Tyler.

BTW, I like both versions of the show, but I favor the BBC version.
