Lolita and Haute Couture (GLB 4)

Sheyne and I did an article for the recent TOKYOPOP Gothic and Lolita Bible (V 4, winter) about dressing for your figure (for tall and/or curvy girls)! Check it out! It's on page 85.
I really like how they laid it out. The colors turned out really nice, too. (sometimes my marker colors can come out iffy in print.)
Also there's an interview with Lynleigh's Sweet Rococo and articles on cupcakes, some really great hair-style tutorials, blinged-out fingernails and all sorts of adorable stuff. I've said it before but I really like the direction the magazine is taking, so check it out. It's great.

BABY added another set of S/M/L sized blouses. direct link to the L one

AP's Chandelier dress. Cute design, but I hate buying AP ops that are never the right shape for me. soooo.... that's it. I'm breaking out the embroidery machine. You know... like in Febuary, when I have time. But it's gonna happen.

from the Paris Laforet show,... I REALLY love the Black Peace Now stuff. LOVE the phantom-esque stuff. Guy on the far right. YES!!
I wish their clothing was just a little broader in the shoulders. But after making the victorian jacket for my steampunk... I think next spring I'm just going to pick a favorite jacket from one of these brands and make my own.
On to non-loli stuff... (images from style.com)
VALENTINO
I'd never wear it, but isn't this egg dress cute?

CHANEL
I really hate all the pleating... but there's some interesting construction and embellishment going on here. In the first image, I really like the dress shapes. (but again, I hate the pleating and fringe)

Look at all the interesting sequin and beading going on here! I wonder what the sparkly stuff on the black dress is made out of...

And then we have the awesome pouf ice queen dress.

DIOR
so, it's hard to see in these images,... but at the start of the runway they have big tall pillars and a fairytale forest. It's straight up SWAN LAKE. I love this idea! So if you look at the collection from that standpoint, you can kindof see an Odette/Odille swan thing going on. Clever!
I dig the retro vibe in this too, though the see through skirts are kindof ridiculous, the shapes are GORGEOUS. Dior's also still doing some really interesting folding, especially if you look at the neckline of the fushia and the lavendar dress.

CHRISTIAN LACROIX
a lot of silliness here, but it's beautiful silly. Love the kindof tsar-ish black vest with the white poof sleeves (the first image). The black and white jacket in the second image (upper right corner) looks a bit like a kimono jacket. I could see women wearing this (sans crazy-ass collar and poof sleeves) to the opera.
The middle left dress is just very amusing.... the middle right dress... is this not a "pulled taffy" dress?? I love it! It's ridiculous but awesome.
I actually really like the yellow dressX black cape.

And je t'adore Dior!!! <3
The ice queen dress is awesome, too, and I would TOTALLY wear that Tsaritsa-vest . . . hmm, I seriously wonder if I could find a way to semi-recreate that. *covets*
Thank you for posting all of this pretty!!

Date: 2008-11-23 08:00 am (UTC)And ooooh man, the grey dress with the giant roses would have been WIN .. if not for that ugly hood thing goin in the back (is it just me, or does it look like it weighs more than the model???)
the egg-skirt set would be great if there was more busty~ness to even out the bottom curve >_>

Date: 2008-11-25 02:40 am (UTC)I'd rather design my own, embroider it and save hundreds of dollars... and actually have it fit me instead of looking like I'm wearing my little sister's dress. XD
