still love my plaid skirt. (fishface, fishface!)

so... is anyone else a fan of "The Snake the Cross the Crown" group? I really like their folk-bluegrass-rock sound. I'd never heard of them before and I'm not really sure how I found them, honestly,... but I love their WHOLE album, Cotton Teeth. My favorites are "Cakewalk", "Behold the River", "Hey Jim" and "A Brief Intermission"..... Apparently their previous albums were really more indie/alt rock and all of the sudden they really wanted to change their sound. I get the feeling listening to Cotton Teeth that they were really inspired. It feels GOOD.
They're on heavy rotation for me right now with Vampire Weekend.

I'm a huge fan of Zoolander, right? I saw a mini-hansel today.

also, Christmas is in full swing apparently.

Yes, yes to Cotton Teeth!!!! It's insanely good, isn't it? Glad you found it and are digging it - there is so much Americana folk being done now and being done really, really well!

Cute boots - are they pull ons or do they have a zipper?

oh gosh, what a cute outfit O: I love your skirt! ( may I ask you where it's from, if you don't mind?) I love skirts like that, but they're so hard for me to find D: I scoured through my local mall and could never find cute knee length skirts. All the skirts were reallly short

o__o; That's a huge tree. I've always kinda wondered how they get up that high. It looks scary

Thank you! You are so full of win O: I bought some plaid fabric, and I'm scared to use it because I think I'll mess up

How do you get the elastic in nicely?

I like to use thick soft elastic since I want the skirt to be a casual comfy skirt. I make the channel for it by just folding over the top of the skirt about 1/4, press that to hide the edge, and then folding that over again a little wider than the elastic. So this way the ruff edge is folded inside the channel. Leave a hole of course so that you can get the elastic through. I like to put the elastic on a safety pin, and then I can feed the safety pin through the channel easier than the elastic itself. (attach the other free end by sewing or with a safety pin temporarily) then once you reach the elastic all the way around, fit both ends of the elastic out of the hole, sew them together to make one continuous band of elastic. tuck the elastic back through the hole and then sew the skirt fabric closed the final amount.

I hope that makes sense!

God I love that band. I think Behold the River is my 6th top played song. Have they released more than the two albums?

I really like your boots.

That skirt's the cutest little thing! Must construct something similar... Another unlikely project to add to my neverending list :)
