QUESTION!
If I made a Doctor Who image for Christmas cards and sold it.... How likely do you think I'd be to get a cease and desist? (I'm just thinking of all the fanart prints sold at conventions and wondering if I should worry or not)

yes, I'm a geek. do be do.

minus the underdrawing:

oh... and OMG I finally found a black M-length Meta Room Print SKIRT! HURRAY! I've been pinning over this thing since spring! You can see the print a little better in this one. But I wish I could find the original flat-print photos.
now if I can just get the blue AP Magical Etoile skirt. :P I'm still really tempted by AP Magic Whip OP, too... but I'm afraid on the proportions. I went ahead and ordered the white Swan Lake print (the M skirt and the bag) as a consolation. I just can't bear not having the print "at all". But I'm still really hoping to get the black version later.
I'm a little irked, it seemed like a year ago, if you bought lolita brand retail and then you didn't like it, you could sell it pretty easily for what you paid for it. Lately people keep stringing me along, or I don't get much response. It makes me not want to be as adventurous in what I buy.
well, enough goofing off!

Date: 2008-09-27 06:12 pm (UTC)Remember how you said you liked the Angelic Pretty corset + skirt set in red in an old post? I liked it, too -- so much that I actually bought it through Celga for full price... and now that I realized it's very tiny, I think there's no hope of selling it since no one wants to buy clothes are the retail prices any longer, LOL. I don't even bother trying any longer.

Date: 2008-09-27 06:16 pm (UTC)I don't really understand why it's happening, frankly. I'm willing to pay retail prices,... how come people expect to pay less than retail for a brand new unworn item?
So often things are too short for me or don't fit me right. now it's like I can't even try anything because it's not worth the $300 gamble if I get stuck with it.

Date: 2008-09-27 06:22 pm (UTC)However, for sweet lolita especially... people can just buy straight from Angelic Pretty, BABY, Marui One, Dreamshoppe, etc. and only have to pay retail price + shipping, while getting the exact item they want (and not settling for something else on the EGL community).
Buying from Celga/Crescent-Shop at full price, paying commission and then EMS is really a lost cause if you need to resell something because you easily pay $50+ extra over retail price -- and no one wants to pay it! (That is, unless they are ordering exactly what they want through Celga/Crescent/etc.)
I figure I'm just going to wait until AP comes in November before I buy more things... it's also very competitive to buy off of AP's English site, especially since they update at 2-3 am and I'm already asleep by 11. >_<;; I say wait for the boutique to come so you can try things on.

Date: 2008-09-27 09:09 pm (UTC)I'm looking forward to trying stuff on in Nov. I'm hoping theyll have Magic Whip, or something with the same cut. but you know, that's probably overly wishful of me. :)
people arent even willing to pay just normal retail though, not even retail+fees, you know? *sigh*. you are right though!

I don't know what convinced me to want it in dark pink. I know I should just stick to the autumn wine red stuff, as that has always been my favorite color.

Date: 2008-09-27 07:11 pm (UTC)Lucasfilm people have come by my table (and Grant's) and have seen the Star Wars prints we sell. They don't care.
We don't make enough off of them for it to be a big deal, nor do we claim the characters are ours.
Unless you say it's an officially approved print from the company that owns the rights to Dr. Who, you won't have an issue.

Date: 2008-09-28 04:45 am (UTC)Oh, and I was also interested in doll making...polymer clay mostly, but I am interested in ball socket ones too. I've noticed that a lot of custom hand-painted dolls seem to buy clothes online, but maybe some people make them too?

also sometimes I make casual skirts for myself. ^_^ I'd suggest taking a basic sewing class to get you started. your local fabric store might have one, or your local community college.
some people make their own dolls on my other site: http://denofangels.com/forums/ there is a subforum there for people who make their own.
