I don't know about your husband, but there are things that will send D into big kid fits as well. X3 Like star wars can send him into drawing rages where he creates all these scenes and stuff. it's so cute! X3

I saw a t-shirt or something once that said "If you're still getting toys for presents on your thirtieth birthday ... you're doing something right!" And I wholeheartedly agree. (31 in December myself :P)

I have both the sonic screwdriver and the laser screwdriver. Before they came out with the sound and psychic paper version we got the non-sound version of the sonic screwdriver, but then upgraded and gave that one to a good friend of ours who's a big Doctor Who fan too.

I'm amazed at how strong the led's are in both the laser and the sonic! Though the laser screwdriver can get a bit annoying with its high pitched squeals, my fiance and I love them both just the same!

I keep my sonic screwdriver in my purse all the time XD

We also have Dalek Sec who is perched on my fiance's computer surveying all lol

You've got a sonic screwdriver! So cool!
Or as the Master would say, "Laser screwdriver! Who would have sonic these days?" =D

I've started on season 4 (just finished the library episode), and I'm glad they made Donna a LOT less shrill than she was in the Runaway Bride. She was nigh intolerable in that, I thought, but I really quite like her in the series. Interesting how many two-part eps they're doing, reminds me of the old days when they used to do like six eps per story arc.

I've heard that the season ends in a cliffhanger, and that the new season won't start until 2010 (0_0), but there will be four hour-long specials in the meantime. And also that Tennant may not be staying on the show. So I approach this season with trepidation...

yes, I think donna is a lot more likeable as she goes on! They give her a lot more meat acting-wise, too. she has more heart. :) I liked her in the library two parter.

wait till you see Midnight, I really loved that episode. :) it's Donna-light and Doctor-heavy!

Tennant, they've haven't said either way. All I know is that he's only officially signed on for the specials in 2009 (written by RT Davies), and then after that, Moffat (the writer of Blink, the Libarary eps and Girl in the Fireplace, etc...) will be taking the helm of the show.
Tennant has repeatedly said though that he always wanted to play Doctor who and that he has no intentions of leaving anytime soon. so I'm hopeful.
I'd really like to see how the arc would go with moffat at the helm and Tennant as the doctor.

the season doesn't "really" end on a cliffhanger, it ties up a lot of things and gets things ready, IMHO for Moffat to take the reins in 2010. (I'm guessing based on previous specials that the RTD specials will be kinda like the christmas specials... like independant one-parters? I'm just guessing though>)

I think it's so funny the way they keep explaining to people that they're not a couple.

I look forward to Moffatt taking over the show. Sometimes, a little fresh blood can really boost a show's quality! (see: Enterprise)
I like Tennant and I'd enjoy seeing him continue. But if they got a new Doctor, i'm sure he'd be good too. I remember when they first got Tennant he seemed a little spastic compared to Eccleston, but he obviously grew on me. I'd at least like to see the relationship between the Doctor and River (Alex Kingston) play out with Tennant in the role.

I wonder if the Doctor's Daughter ep was setting up yet another spin-off series.

Speaking of spinoffs, have you seen Infinity Quest? It looks like it's Flash animated, with Tennant and Agyeman doing voices.

yeah, I really do wonder if they'll delve into the River arc or not. I'd like to see them do that!

Jenny, it seems like they almost have to deal with her eventually in some form, the way they left it!

Nope, I haven't seen IQ! is it good?

As big a deal as they made it out to be, I'd expect Whovians to be ponding down the BBC doors to get more development out of the River story. And considering it seems like it is supposed to be such an important relationship to the Doctor, I'd hope they spent some time to do it right, and not just compress, like, a year into one episode.

I just got IQ, and I'm saving it for after I get caught up on live-action Dr. Who, so I haven't seen it yet. I get the impression that it's more youth-oriented. Hope it's decent.

I hope that they at least imply some things with River before Tennant leaves (because you know all good things eventually have to end.)
I'd think after setting all that up... and considering that Moffat was the writer, and Moffat is taking over... that they'll at least get into it, some!

I'm actually pretty jazzed that they are willing to take it to that level. the whole "OMG you know my name" thing is pretty epic. and a lot of classic who fans are very against romantic stuff... but... you can't really get into the river thing without romance, right?
MOffat, IMHO, is a lot of a romantic, too (if you look at a lot of his eps) so ... I'm curious to see what he'll do. (not nessesarily regarding river but just with the doctor in general). I mean Girl in the Fireplace and the Silence in the Library,.... and lots of others, they were pretty OMGANGST + hopeless romance...

It'll be interesting, too, to see how RTD transitions to Moffat's season with the specials in 2009. I'd say more but I don't want to spoil anything for your remaining 4th season eps! :)

apparently at the end of this month there's going to be a special ala Time Crash, too.

As a Who fan from back when Tom Baker was the Doctor, I was always of the opinion that, although he looks human, the Doctor is far too alien and vast to get involved romantically with a human. But I accept that the show is no longer the show it was twenty-five years ago, and the Tennant seasons with all their romance have been a good, entertaining TV show. So I accept the romance as part of the New Doctor Who, and I'm glad that it's been handled quite well.

So Moffatt is clearly of the romantic ilk, but I think he'll do a good job with it.

LOL no spoilers!
I plan to finish season 4 tomorrow. Then I'll try to fill the Doctor-less void with DWC and IQ and Torchwood...

I can totally respect the way the old show was done, but I wonder, at some point, if they were doing it that way simply for the same reason that married couples had to have separate twin beds, you know?

don't worry! no spoilers! I hate spoilers! :)

The way I see it, the previous Doctors were so alien and had such vast intellects that they looked upon human beings almost like particularly interesting bugs. Tennant's Doctor, on the other hand, is like a much older man with lots of worldly experience and wisdom, who looks to his young ladies to reinvogorate his sense of wonder at the universe.

I don't mind the change, because the current version is a good show, and I'd rather watch a good show than a bad, but faihful, show. Also, I'm not as close to Dr. Who as I am to some of my fandoms. Now, if they start having Obi-Wan romancing women in the new Clone Wars series, I might start ranting...
=D

hahahah *snort* obi wan... XD

I totally agree with you about past and present doctors and the motivation of Ten. (that's why I love Ten!) I'm so into the appreciating life and finding joy in it-type mentality right now that I find Ten's motivation very endearing.

it's so tiring having these immortal or impossibly old beings being jaded or remote. I think Ten is refreshing in that way. :)
at the same time what you said about the older doctors makes total sense. at least they were able to write a good motivation and personality into the possibly forced prudishness of older tv.
