This was one of my outfits last week.

... the belt is silver glitter... and yes, that is a dinosaur rocking out on my t-shirt. I got lots of cute comments about squaredancing and Cyndi Lauper. I love wearing this kind of outfit.

I wish there was a Topshop and PunkyFish in LA. :P exchange rates blow.

... I picked up Mode et Mode at Kino last week, too. One of my favorites was the Alexander McQueen fall ready to wear 2008 collection. Here's some of my faves from that:(click for larger and with more dresses)

while putzing around online, I found this Thierry Mugler dress called Chimere. Apparently it's from a SuperHero fashion exhibit at the Met in NY right now. I wish I could go! I really want to see this dress in person!!! (I want to see what the "scales" and the belly area is made out of, especially!)

What a pretty McQueen collection, I didn/t see that. But, I DID see that Chimere dress when I went to the Met last month.

The stomach-scales looked like treated leather, and aaaall of those scales? Large shell beads. It was INSANE. It was completely covered in them that way, all the way to the floor.

Oh, I *adore* Thierry Mugler. If I could pick three designers to make stuff for me, it'd be Mugler, Galliano, and McQueen, in that order . . . with a little left over for Dolce & Gabbana to drape me in leopard-print! ;)

Chimere is more epic than you could possibly imagine. I was leaning so far over the rope Nick was like, "You can't go in there!"

Every single scale on that thing is a large paillette and a feather, paired up by hand and sewn on. Every. Single. One.

Sigh, McQueen! I love the yellow dress and the white Regency one.

He did a collection for MAC last fall, but it was pretty lackluster. Guess fashion doesn't always translate well into makeup :)

The Superhero exhibit is crazy! I know you would love it! Matthew helped install it (some peices fell off the Iron Man costume in transit so he had to re-affix them) I'll see if he has any into on that piece for you....

You might want to check out the show's book/catalog (they might have it in Borders or B&N), it's a really awesome book, bound in metal with shiney plastic pages and really great photographs of all the outfits in the show...

thanks! I found that by accident the other day! I wish I could find that exact fabric for the top, but I wasn't willing to buy something "close" that was $40 a yard and needed dying still. :P so I went with confetti dot.

UGH! I know, right!? Why is confetti dot fabric so easy to find and yet actual sequin fabric is like...impossible? >_O! hahaha...I used to work @ GAP and the Banana Republic was next door and they'd have dresses made outta black and silver sequin fabric and I'd shake the manager screaming "WHERE.DOES.IT.COME.FROM!?" heh! I'm aiming to do Xayide from Neverending Story 2...I have everything done BUT the dress...'cause I can't find that stupid fabric. I'm too stubborn to just go w/ the confetti dot on that one...unless it's three years later from now and I need to just get over it. lol. XD;;;;
