fabric, old buildings and the Darkness
Jul. 10th, 2008 12:45 pm
So, on Tues, I didn't have to work so I randomly decided to go downtown and pick up some fabric and accessories for my Rose Tyler costume (from The Idiot's Lantern episode). On the way, I drove by the Eastern building (which is across from the Orpheum theater)... the Eastern building is one of my all-time favorite old LA buildings. The first photo is mine, and the second is from google. It's made of this beautiful blue and teal tile.

what I picked up for my costume, it's not absolutely perfect, but it's pretty close on a budget!

it was a pretty great day. I had my iPod on and listened to AC/DC, the Darkness and all manor of silly rock songs on repeat while I walked through the fabric and garment district.
I also looked at some suits. They're always asking, "what is this for?" "Is this for a show" "are you wardrobe?"
.... and what am I supposed to say? "Well, I want to dress my husband up like a character from a BBC show so that he can wear it to a geeky convention and dance around." so instead, I say, "Yes, I'm in wardrobe". (which helps explain my OCD-ness when I go, "I'm sorry, that color brown isn't exactly perfect for my show!!")
work has been very "chill", too. and random awesome things keep happening. So pretty much, this week has ROCKED. I needed a rockin week. so booya.

Date: 2008-07-11 12:06 am (UTC)haha that's a good excuse when buying fabric.. I don't think I would pull that off where I live though. Most of the time though, no one asks why I'm buying yards of fur (I sell kitty ears) or interesting fabric.

There's another artist around LJ who periodically does Doctor Who fan-art. You should check her art out:
